Now that development duties for the Max Payne series have passed from Remedy Entertainment to Rockstar Games many are wondering how Rockstar plans to live up to fan expectations, while at the same time delivering something fresh and new. Even more importantly, though, gamers are wondering how Remedy, who have since resurfaced with another new franchise in Alan Wake, feels about Rockstar’s work on Max Payne 3. After assuming control of the Max Payne property, Take Two brought that property to Rockstar, thinking them to be the perfect developer to pick up where Remedy left off, and according to Remedy that was a good choice....

Belgian-based developer Larian Studios, best known for its mostly serious, often hilarious action roleplaying series Divinity: Original Sin, recently launched highly-anticipated RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 in Early Access. Way back in February, Larian proved it had the mettle to tackle Baldur’s Gate 3 by showcasing some particularly intriguing takes on combat. Essentially, Larian founder and director Swen Vincke took to the stage at PAX East 2020 in order to share some very important footage of his character launching their boot at an opponent’s head....

The gaming world knew that Sony was up to something potentially groundbreaking when they purchased Gaikai, a leading digital streaming service in the lead-up to the PlayStation 4’s unveiling. That bomb was finally dropped with the reveal of PlayStation Now, a streaming service that seemed to hold the answer to Sony’s problem of backwards compatibility; no longer would consumers need to play physical copies of older titles, simply stream them from Sony directly....

Just two weeks before the launch of Modern Warfare 3, pirated discs of the PC version have begun to spread around the US. Considering just how prevalent piracy is, as well as how popular the Call of Duty franchise is, this should come as no surprise, though it is still very unfortunate news. What may come as good news is that the pirated version of Modern Warfare 3 is apparently not the whole game....

With BlizzCon 2017 having just wrapped up, there’s no better time to be an Overwatch fan and Blizzard wants to give more players the chance to try its hero shooter by making the game available for free for 3 days next weekend. From November 17-20, FPS fans will be able to download and play the popular multiplayer title without paying as much as a penny. The full roster of 26 heroes and 16 maps will be available to access throughout the Overwatch free weekend and across all platforms, giving those curious about the game the chance to trial Blizzard’s latest title in all its glory....

Upping the polygon counts and making character models more realistic wasn’t going to cut it with the latest generation of consoles. No, the PS4 and Xbox One had to do more to accommodate players and the new ways in which we want to use our consoles. I’ve never been able to get into Musou style games, despite many attempts at it. I can see how they could be cathartic for people, since you can slash or beat your way through giant mobs of enemies. I’ve even written about some games that are great for blowing off steam, and most Musou games could easily be added to that list. But if I’m actually looking to sit down and play a game to have fun, I’d rather not do it by mashing the same buttons over and over in every fight with some extras thrown in for (usually unnecessary) combo moves....

Luckily, many evolved forms and hard-to-find Pokemon are fairly easy to find in the Wild Area, the Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra. If you’re looking to complete your Pokedex, don’t expect a walk in the park. Even though it’s a bit easier than at some points in the past, it’s still a tedious mission with a few difficult entries....
