When it came to handheld systems, Nintendo has always had a lock on the market. The Gameboy outsold the Gamegear, the Nintendo DS outsold the Sony PSP, and the Switch is basically the only handheld console you can buy these days. But back in the ’90s, Sega was actually ahead of Nintendo in terms of technology. The Sega Game Gear could actually play games in color rather than just greyscale like the Gameboy, and by the time Nintendo introduced the Game Boy Color, Sega had already made a technological leap forward by introducing the world’s first 16-bit handheld console....

While English-speaking Persona 5 fans are currently eagerly awaiting the upcoming release of Persona 5 Strikers in the west, it wasn’t long ago that they were upset at the lack of translation news. Now news has come to light explaining why it took so long for even a localization announcement to be made. Virtual reality hasn’t quite taken off in the way many analysts predicted, especially when it comes to Sony’s PlayStation VR for the PS4. Perhaps as a way to sell the virtual reality concept to more consumers, Sony is moving forward with plans to install PlayStation VR units in Japanese arcades. Leading this initiative will be a new location-based entertainment department within Sony Interactive Entertainment. Besides arcades, Sony will reportedly be looking for other partners as well, though it will not be creating its own PlayStation VR entertainment center or arcade....

Thanks to Pokemon GO developer Niantic previously revealing all summer 2019 Community Day dates, we’ve known that June Community Day has been set for the 8th for some time, but now we know the featured Pokemon is the gen 3, Normal-type Slakoth. As expected, Slakoth Community Day will also feature a number of bonuses including the shiny Slakoth family and an exclusive move for Slaking. While the PlayStation 5’s backward compatibility support has been one of the biggest topics of speculation over the past year, Sony’s been consistent about at least one detail. That being that the PS5 would have robust backward compatibility for PS4 games. In a newly published piece on the PlayStation Support website, Sony’s now clarified the issue even further. Specifically, Sony says that the PS5 will support the “overwhelming majority” of over 4,000 PS4 games via backward compatibility....

Last week, players who used hate speech within text chat, such as racial or homophobic slurs, began to be automatically banned without warning.
