Backwards compatibility between console generations is a rightful concern among gaming fans. Investing money into a ton of games over five-to-seven years, only to have them unplayable on a brand new console, can be frustrating. Xbox kicked out this trend entirely for Xbox One with an ambitious backwards compatibility that supported newer and older games from previous generations. Now PlayStation is following suit, kind of. The PS5 is getting backwards compatibility, though the limits of which are fairly vague....

One of the earlier selling points of the PS4 back at launch was the ability to remotely play the new console through the PS Vita. Now, it would appear that Sony is preparing for a new version of that remote play, by giving the PS5 to play remotely through the PS4 system, offering a unique twist on the next-gen console’s backward compatibility. This new remote play has appeared on a number of PS4 consoles through an app that has shown up on the main menu, although it doesn’t appear to work at the time of this writing thanks to the PS5 not being released yet....

Considering the massive size of a game like Red Dead Redemption 2, the immersive realism and huge world can sometimes make even innocent little glitches stand out. A screenshot one player took of one of these glitches happening to Charles Smith has taken an incredibly awkward turn as it causes a strange situation with another member of the gang. There’s just so much content in Persona 5 that it’s easy to miss a few things. Take Mementos, for example. Mementos is a dungeon that you visit multiple times throughout your playthrough since it’s where you go to complete the requests you receive from Mishima. Mementos might seem tedious at first but it’s definitely worth exploring and completing requests. Plus, it’s a great place to grind money and experience. Despite Mementos seemingly being a quite simple area, there’s a surprising amount of depth to it you may have missed....

The Phantom Thieves of Hearts have stolen another title, as Persona 5 Royal was the highest-rated game of 2020 on Metacritic. Persona 5 Royal is an updated version of Persona 5, which adds a ton of new content to the game. The Phantom Thieves gain a member, with the mysterious Kasumi having a huge role in the new third semester, which takes place after the storyline of the original game. The party members have all gained a ton of new powers, which they’ll need if they want to take on the protagonists of Persona 3 and Persona 4 in DLC boss battles....

Phasmophobia’s developer Kinetic Games currently only has one individual working there, and this same person developed Phasmophobia all on their own. As a result, the game has several bugs and glitches plaguing it, which is understandable considering Phasmophobia’s mentioned conditions. Still, bugs and glitches would usually negatively impact any game that has to deal with them, but in Phasmophobia’s case, they haven’t slowed down the game’s rising popularity at all....

PlatinumGames, the developer of Bayonetta, NieR: Automata, Astral Chain, and several other cult classics, has ambitious plans for its future. Earlier this year, Platinum announced a fiscal partnership with Chinese megacorporation Tencent, stating that it intends for their alliance to solely fund better games, and not influence future creative decisions.
