There are currently eight generations of main series Pokemon games, with each being rather different from the one preceding it. However, through the years, there have been plenty of side games introduced, as well. Many of these side games have features and mechanics that could easily work in the main series. Of course, many of them will probably never see main series recognition, but many of these features would be fantastic to see in some capacity....

While the long-awaited announcement of Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl was foreshadowed for many months, no long-time Pokemon fan was quite ready for what The Pokemon Company revealed to the world. For some fans, this faithful adaptation was everything they could have wanted, while other fans remain skeptical that it will deliver a good game. One of the biggest points of controversy surrounding the Sinnoh remakes, aside from the art style, is the claim that they are being made to be as faithful to the original Diamond & Pearl as possible, a claim that has many fans of the Sinnoh games worried as the follow-up title, Platinum, did a lot to fix some of the main issues people have with the original generation four games....

Shining Fates might not be the latest set in the Pokemon TCG scene, but it’s still a big part of the Pokemon Sword & Shield era. Its catalog remains tournament-legal, and there’s no shortage of powerful pulls, so in a very real way, the expansion hasn’t been brushed aside despite the arrival of sets like Battle Styles and Brilliant Stars. Shining Fates brought back a fun mechanic from the Sun & Moon era’s Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault Pokemon....

Pokemon GO has really upped the ante when it comes to delivering frequent and rewarding events. Bandai Namco is jumping on the location-based game bandwagon with Pac-Man Geo. Now available on iOS and Android, the game lets you take to the streets as the lovable yellow puck to gobble up pellets, avoid ghosts, and collect unique landmarks as you travel through the real world. Unique mazes will be generated based on your selected location, meaning there’s a nearly limitless amount of content. If you find a maze you enjoy, you can even share it with the Maze Sharing feature built into Pac-Man Geo....

A new season is about to begin in Pokemon GO and when the Season of Legends kicks off on March 1, trainers can expect to find a lot of changes in the game. In addition to new wild spawns, Egg hatches, and a handful of different bonuses coming in March, the first of the month will also bring a new Research Breakthrough reward for trainers to encounter a handful of times throughout the month....

Fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game have had a busy few weeks. On top of seeing one of the rarest and most expensive cards being sold on ZenPlus, they now have one more reason to look forward to the international release of the Vivid Voltage expansion in November. According to PokeGuardian, a site dedicated to the popular TCG, the new set will feature a classically designed Pikachu reminiscent of the Pokemon’s original design in the late ’90s....

Sonic fans can celebrate a major milestone with Sega by downloading Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Steam, as the game is currently free on the video game digital distribution service. The next update to Xbox Games Pass is loaded with titles, and not all of them got official announcements. One of the unannounced games joining the Xbox Game Pass list is Prison Architect. Available for Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers, the management simulation game joins other anticipated titles such as The Medium, Outer Wilds, and remastered Yakuza titles. Prison Architect was also included in GOG’s Winter Sale a few months ago....

The latest iOS update makes associated Apple devices compatible with the PS5’s DualSense as well as Xbox Series X/S controllers. Apple is rolling out the latest iOS and iPadOS system updates this week. Update 14.5 comes with a number of new features. However, the most exciting feature added to the devices this week, at least for those who use their devices to play video games, is the ability to connect them to next-gen console controllers....

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a game that Microsoft has a vested interest in, as the publisher has heavily pushed it as a major console-exclusive. Considering this, it came as little surprise when PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was shown at Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, where a new trailer confirmed that two new maps are coming by the end of the year. The first new map coming to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is the Sanhok jungle map, which is notable for being much smaller than the Erangel and Miramar maps that are currently available in the game....

More Dark is headed to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 very soon. The puzzle-platformer published by Ratalaika Games and developed by HugePixel released about a year ago on Steam, but now it is coming to consoles. Ubisoft has announced the release date for the next gen versions of Rainbow Six Siege and what improvements fans can expect when they boot up Siege on a PS5 or Xbox Series X. During a panel at the 2018 Invitational Finals, Rainbow Six Siege was discussed in a high degree of detail. Although Ubisoft has two unknown triple-A titles set to release by April 2019, it was never likely that the tactical shooter would receive a sequel that soon. It has now been revealed that there is no sequel planned at any point. It shouldn’t be surprising, considering the amount of support Ubisoft has placed behind Rainbow Six Siege....

In 2018 Epic Games shut down the servers for its third-person MOBA Paragon due to its dwindling playerbase. In 2020, fans of the unique and visually impressive game are bringing it back. Predecessor is a “remake” of Paragon leveraging assets made available with Epic’s Unreal Engine. Today, the development team dropped a new teaser for Predecessor’s closed alpha. Following Paragon being shutdown, Epic Games made all of the assets associated with Paragon freely available via the Unreal Engine Marketplace....

Modder Molkifier creates a strange new mod for Left 4 Dead 2 that replaces the in-game graffiti with various Twitter quotes from actor and rapper Jaden Smith. Left 4 Dead 2 has sold millions of copies, won numerous industry awards, and earned very positive review scores. But what is the one thing it’s missing that could make it even better? Apparently, modder Molkifier believes that what Left 4 Dead 2 really needs is some philosophical quotes from Jaden Smith’s Twitter account, and so he’s added them to the game....
