The big news today is that Microsoft has bought ZeniMax Media–the parent company of Bethesda Studios as well as Arkane, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios–for a cool $7.5 billion USD. Microsoft apparently has plenty of money and thinks that securing Bethesda and all its many varied IPs will give them a leg-up in its never-ending war with Sony. It’s a big deal, and we don’t want to mitigate it. Old Bethesda games that aren’t already on Xbox Game Pass will be arriving there shortly, while new games currently in development like Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6 will also hit Xbox Game Pass upon their eventual release....

Espeon is one of Eevee’s many possible evolutions. It is Psychic-type and was introduced in the second generation along with the Dark-type Eevee evolution, Umbreon. To evolve an Eevee into an Espeon, it had to have max happiness and level up in the daytime. If this happened at night, Eevee would turn into an Umbreon instead. As all Pokémonfans already know, Eevee evolutions are fan favorites. September has arrived! That means, in addition to a new Research Breakthrough reward, there are also a whole new batch of daily encounter rewards that Pokemon GO players are able to track down and earn. The quest rotation is now in place and the community has already gathered a ton of intel about which rewards are associated with which quests. Last month’s quests seemed to be Gen 4 candy-themed, but September doesn’t have quite as clear of a pattern....

Niantic has revealed the extent of its latest Pokemon GO event in a new announcement. Players will be treated to a selection of spooky Ghost and Dark-type Pokemon, new in-game events and bonuses, and the return of Darkrai to five-star Raids. Pokemon GO will celebrate the introduction of Pokemon like Galarian Yamask during this Halloween event, but more competitive players should have their sights set on one powerful Dark-type’s inclusion. The Mythical Darkrai may look like a spirit, but it is in fact a pure Dark-type Pokemon, making it effective against Psychic-types, among other things....

Usually, in the Pokemon TCG, there is quite a lot of amalgamation that happens. Multiple types from the Pokemon video games often get lumped together, such as how Water and Ice-types get combined into the water element in the TCG. However, Electric-types from the digital adventures get a far more direct transition into the card game as all pure Electric-type Pokemon get placed in the lightning element. Furthermore, the only Pokemon from the video games that enter this element besides the pure Electric-types are dual-types that are at least part Electric....

Pokemon Unite is The Pokemon Company’s next mobile title, being a MOBA game similar in style to games like League of Legends and Smite. Though some fans weren’t happy with Pokemon Unite when the game was first revealed last year, the idea of a mobile Pokemon MOBA does sound intriguing. Now, Pokemon Unite has entered its beta testing phase in some regions, including Canada. After years of anticipation from fans, this past week saw the release of Nurture, the second studio album from Porter Robinson. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the Bluehole-developed and published multiplayer online Battle Royale title that has taken the gaming world by storm, might have some hefty competition in its midst. A mysterious game known as Project X aims to take what PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds does well and elevate it to the next level, surpassing PUBG’s 100-player gameplay on an 8km by 8km map with 400-player battles on an even bigger map. Currently in the works at studio Automation in the United Kingdom, Project X includes a last-man standing player-versus-player “sport” mode that allows up to 400 players to compete at a time, which is where comparisons to the well-loved PUBG will undoubtedly be made....
