Ever since Pokémon Red & Blue came out on the Game Boy, fans of the series (us included) have been begging for a main console Pokémon game. While we’ve certainly come close with titles like Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness, we’ve never had a fully traditional Pokémon RPG title that we can play on our TVs. However, that is all about to change. Nintendo announced at E3 2017 that Game Freak was already hard at work for a core Pokémontitle on the Switch....

Exeggutor is a long-time trainer favorite, evolving from the original egg Pokémon, Exeggcute. This gen one chain has only recently become directly available within Pokémon Sword & Shield through the Isle of Armor expansion. Not only has this long-sought giant finally made its way to Galar, but Exeggutor’s Alolan form has been transplanted as well thanks to an NPC on the Isle. Read on to complete the Pokédex entries for this grass/psychic-type chain....

There’s still plenty of time left in February, but many Pokemon GO players are already planning for the events of March. One of these events is the March Community Day, which will be focused on the dual Normal and Flying-type Pokemon, Fletchling. Fletchling was only added to Pokemon GO back in December of 2020 alongside a few other Pokemon from the Kalos region. This means that Fletchling will be the first Kalos Pokemon to have its own Community Day....

Pokemon GO players have been busy adding Alolan variants, event Pokemon, and new Legendaries to their collection during these last few weeks; but there’s always something else to track down (at least for most players). Unfortunately, some Pokemon still require traveling around the world to catch or at least having a friend who is willing to bring one back for you to trade. Regional Pokemon do move around from time to time in Pokemon GO, so it’s important to check in and get a feel for where each of the creatures is currently spawning on the map....

Pokemon GO’s February Community Day event is officially confirmed and players will be out on the hunt for Swinub next month. Players will have the usual three hours to catch as many of the creature as possible, but most importantly (for some trainers) is the opportunity to add some new shiny Pokemon to their collection. Although Swinub isn’t necessarily the most popular Pokemon, its evolutions are useful for certain Battle Raid matchups and the February event is likely to be a popular one....

Pokemon GO is putting in a lot of work to keep players engaged and active in the mobile AR game during the rest of April (and in theory however long the social distancing recommendations last). The new normalcy of state and country lockdowns and stay-at-home orders are not great for a game that wants players to be out and running around in the real world, but Niantic is making quick changes and doing everything it can to make the game playable from home....

The next update for Pokemon GO is bringing a lot to the table, with the highly desired friends and trading systems finally coming to the game. However, a recent datamine of the update also shows a number of other additions to the game, with one of the smaller, sneaked-in additions seemingly confirming the game’s next Community Day event. Pokemon GO’s next update will add a starter exclusive move, with its sound effects and animations, to the game....

If you’re tired of modern politics, then maybe the Soviet flair of political strategy game For the People is right for you. The game, created by visual novel developer Brezg Studio and published by 101XP, puts you in the shoes of the mayor in a small, distinctly-Slavic city shortly after a totalitarian regime known as the Union of People’s Orange Communes has taken over. It is, understandably, a time of economic crisis and social unrest, and it will be up to you to figure out how best to expend your limited resources – either for the benefit of the people, or the benefit of the party....

A handful of details on MLB The Show 21 have been revealed already, including this year’s cover athlete and the various special editions of the game that will be available. The one thing that hasn’t been touched on, however, is where each team will rank among the rest. It’s become a yearly tradition to make predictions on which team will be the best and which will be the worst, and after a shortened 2020 season and an offseason that shifted rosters up quite a bit, there’s sure to be a change in the ratings from MLB The Show 20....

The video game developer Arkane Studios promises fans that the PC version of its forthcoming first-person shooter, Prey, will be “flawless” when it launches. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ Prey is considered by many to be one of the most anticipated games of 2017. Of course, with fans emanating such excitement for the title, it also means that developers will be under a lot of pressure to deliver a near-perfect product due to the expectations caused by gamers awaiting its release....

A fresh, next-gen RPG is being forged by a new studio under triple-A developer ProbablyMonsters, bringing the talents behind Borderlands and Torchlight onboard. The new project and studio will also be helmed by CEO Harold Ryan, who brought Halo and Destiny into our gaming bubble. The new studio has not acquired an official name yet, but it is the third branch to be spawned by ProbablyMonsters - joining Cauldron Studios and Firewalk Studios - which has been labelled as a “new category of game company”....

The coronavirus, or COVID-19, is still at large and changing life as we know it. Now the Comic Market Committee announced that their summer Comic Market, also known as Comiket 98, will at least be postponed with the possibility of getting cancelled altogether to prevent the spread of this virus. The Japanese event, which often hosts up to 200,000 attendees per day, is too large to be safe amidst the pandemic....

With the recent Facebook purchase and ambitious MMO goals of the Oculus Rift VR headset, it’s easy to forget about other virtual reality headsets that are currently being developed. Oculus definitely has the most traction so far, but a few other companies are preparing similar gamer-focused virtual reality products that will likely end up rivaling the Rift headset. It’s no surprise that Sony’s Project Morpheus aims to capitalize on the market of console gamers, but the groundwork for the headset’s eventual release was apparently in the works long before the console launched in November....

It’s no secret that the PS4 has been the clear winner in this early part of the current-gen console war. Sony’s latest platform hit the ground running when it launched in November 2013, and so far nothing seems to be holding back. Now that more than a year has passed since the PS4’s launch, Sony reports that they have moved 18.5 million units worldwide. Sony also had a very successful holiday season, where they sold through more than 4....

The release of the PS5 is just a few days away, though many people have already managed to get their hands on the console and its accessories early. Some consumers are YouTubers who have received the PS5 for unboxing purposes, while some retailers have sent out the console or its peripherals by mistake. One user has managed to discover something rather interesting in the lining of the PS5 Pulse Headset....

In this competitive industry, it’s super rare for a developer or publisher to own their mistakes. Deceptive PR speak, damage control, positive spins on the most dire of situations… that seems to be the way forward. Not for the team at PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, though. They hear us, and they’re embarking on an epic quest to Fix The Game™. Seriously. They’ve got a website and line graphs and everything. They are not messing around....

As revealed during the opening of today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, both Pyra and Mthyra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as DLC characters in March. Similar to their role from their respective title, they will act as dual fighters with the ability to switch between the two on the fly. This feels similar to what Zelda and Shiek were in the past, except those two ended up getting split after the Wii U iteration....

On Thursday, Electronic Arts officially completed its acquisition of Codemasters, the developer of the Colin McRae Rally, Dirt and F1 racing series. The British company is now wholly owned by Codex Games Limited, a subsidiary of EA. The acquisition, which values Codemasters at approximately $1.2 billion, marks “an exciting new era in racing game entertainment,” EA said. Earlier in the day, trading in Codemasters shares on AIM was suspended. In addition, Codemasters’ board of directors has resigned....

Rainbow Six Quarantine entered development as a very different game to its near completed project. According to game director Alex Hutchinson, Ubisoft’s latest addition into the Tom Clancy-verse was once a zero-gravity space exploration game. In an interview with PC Gamer, Hutchinson spoke about the creative process behind developing “Pioneer” – as it was called during its infancy – when he was the game’s director. Hutchinson had just completed Far Cry 4 before setting his sights on space exploration....

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is launching on Friday, and Insomniac has ramped up its marketing, roping in the rest of the PlayStation family. On Twitter, it shared a slew of mashups with other iconic games and mascots. One of these was Sly Cooper as pictured above, leaping through one of the multiversal portals torn open by the Lombax-created Dimensionator. It’s now in the hands of Doctor Nefarious. What can go wrong?...
