Sony has released the latest PlayStation 5 update, version 21.01-03.21.00. According to patch notes on the PS5, the sole focus of the update is to improve system performance. The update is rolling out now for all PS5 users, and will take up 902 MB of memory. If your console is currently in rest mode, the update should have started automatically and be completed next time you play. Otherwise, it should either start next time you boot up, or when you manually trigger it from system settings....

The link between video game violence and real-life aggression has, and will continue to be, one of the most hotly debated subjects in the video game industry. It seems every few months a new study is released that explains how video game violence is or isn’t related to aggression, especially in youth. Just a couple days ago, a report was released by an American Psychological Association (APA) task force, confirming the link many believe exists between video games and violence....

BR Quads and Plunder Quads have returned to Call of Duty: Warzone less than a week after the two modes were removed. Battle royale games are no longer all about 100 players landing on a map and doing battle until only one remains. Remedy Entertainment’s head of communications took to Twitter to reveal the development team is working to improve gameplay mechanics for its upcoming titles. Remedy lead Sam Lake opens up about his team’s vision for Quantum Break, admitting that the game needs to find success on the level of Alan Wake and Max Payne. Sam Lake, head of Remedy Entertainment, admitted during a recent interview that their upcoming time-bending game, Quantum Break, needs to be amazing in order to meet gamer expectations. With all the time and resources going into the project, the developer can’t afford the game failing at release....

Hand tracking was a new feature revealed for the original Oculus Quest during the Oculus Connect presentation last fall. It was announced as an experimental feature for the Quest with a tentative 2020 release date but ended end getting released in December as an experimental feature. With the release of the Quest 2, hand tracking has now been implemented as a feature right out of the box. Hand tracking presents an interesting opportunity for new ways to interact with games, but there’s still got a long way to go before it’s anything more than a novelty....

Ubisoft has just made some major announcements for its third year of Rainbow Six Siege content, confirming one rumor that many gamers had regarded as being too far-fetched. During the Pro League livestream today, studio officials have now confirmed a brand new in-game co-op event called Mission Outbreak. The event will last at least a week, and from its initial description, the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege event sounds an awful lot like Call of Duty’s zombie mode....

A remastered version of Legend of Mana, the 1999 action RPG developed and published by Square for the PlayStation, is scheduled to be released on June 24 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch and PS4. On December 20, update version 1.0 will launch for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, bringing with it several fan-desired updates such as the 3D replay and killcam. It is even possible this update will fix some of the technical issues with the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds; however, this remains unknown. The game’s 3D replay and killcam feature comes as a result of a partnership between Minkonet, a gaming technology company, and Bluehole....

Thanks to dataminers, the Pokémon featured in August’s community day might have been revealed. Pokémon GO’s Twitter account posted a poll back in May to let fans vote on which two Pokémon would be the next two community day events. Weedle and Gastly were the top two picks of that poll. June’s community day featured Weedle, while July’s community day featured Gastly....
