When it comes to viewing videos about games there’s one place that the majority of us flock to: YouTube. We head there for trailers, Let’s Plays and to see glitches, highlights and bugs caught on video because when it comes to videos, that the go-to place. But the status quo is changing rapidly with YouTube often being second in command when we want to see real, raw and unedited footage live of our favorite games in action with Twitch providing unprecedented access to titles that haven’t even been released yet, alongside pro eSports coverage....

“Hey, it’s been a while.” This is the first text I’ve received from Ryuji since October, when I decided to boot up Persona 5 Royal for a second playthrough. If you’ve only played as far as Dragon Age: Inquisition and haven’t read any of the supplementary comics, you might not know that by the time we (almost definitely) visit Minrathous in Dragon Age 4 - which could be the most cyberpunk city in fantasy - Dorian will be a Tevinter magister. Some Pokémon types just seem to have it harder than others. Ice and Bug, for instance, tend to lack the strengths to make up for their weaknesses, while Rock is also weak to absolutely everything ever. Meanwhile, other typings (like Dragon) are so darn strong that another typing (Fairy) has to be introduced to help counter them. Grass is another typing that has struggled over the years. It has too many weaknesses (and is resisted by too many types) to really be balanced, making Grass-type starters quite difficult to use to best effect at times....

While Pokémon are known for competing in battles, they all don’t look like Machamps or Charizards. In fact, there are quite a few dainty Pokémon that many in the community consider to be the picture of elegance. These creatures often have elegant designs, but when thrown into a battle, they can do major damage to their opponents. Frosmoth, for example, is an ice bug-type that is able to harness a long list of moves while looking like the winner of a Pokémon Contest....

Pokémon Legends: Arceus may not be a “typical” Pokémon game, but this bold new entry in the franchise still lets you evolve your Pokémon into exciting new forms through a variety of strange (and often confusing) methods. Arceus does a fairly good job of letting you know when and how to evolve many of the game’s 242 Pokémon (and you’ll always be able to choose whether or not you want to evolve one at all), but there are a surprising number of Pokémon in the game without immediately clear evolutionary paths....

Atsuko Nishida has been helping design Pokemon since the beginning of the series but she absolutely outdid herself when making Sylveon. Pokemon GO players recently found out that September’s Community Day will feature Chikorita, but apparently there are also some rumors about what might be coming later in the fall or early winter. A datamine of the latest update reveals a new exclusive move that suggests another very powerful Pokemon may take the Community Day spotlight in the coming months. Although it doesn’t get as much attention as Tyranitar or Raikou, Metagross is definitely a top tier Pokemon when it comes to the Pokemon GO metagame....

Pokemon GO has had its fair share of controversies since its initial release, and another one has just emerged. Players have discovered that the game’s privacy policy has been updated in order to allow Niantic to track all apps used on players’ phones. The Pokemon GO privacy policy addendum indicates that Niantic may view a phone’s settings and general information about the device, such as its operating system, as well as what other applications that are being used on the phone....
