Sonia is one of the more active recurring characters of Pokémon Sword & Shield, and always a pleasant face to see. You meet her throughout the story studying the history of Galar, and over the course of the game she goes on to become Professor Magnolia’s successor as Galar’s newest Pokémon Professor. Unlike most recurring characters, though, Sonia lacks her own team of Pokémon to battle against and alongside you. As someone who studies Pokémon herself, it only makes sense that she has her own, so here are the Pokémon that would suit her best if she were to try battling in a future game or update....

The Pokémon Trading Card Game, like most other card games, has its dedicating damage group. In some games, they’re like glass cannons, dealing huge amounts of damage while being incredibly fragile. In Pokémon, the damage group is the Fire-types. But instead of being glass cannons, they burn through energy cards like a wildfire. They’re heavily dependent on energy management through cards such as Energy Retrieval to reclaim spent energy from the discard pile....

In July of 2017, Niantic organized a festival in Chicago’s Grant Park celebrating its game, Pokemon GO. The festival had promised players that they would be able to meet fellow Pokemon Trainers and catch new and rare Pokemon. The festival was supposed to celebrate the game’s first birthday, but this did not go as planned and Niantic is now set to pay the price. Pokemon GO Fest suffered many data connectivity issues and massive logistical issues within Pokemon GO, even before the gates to the festival opened....

Offering an opinion about which radical group of morons is the best Pokemon antagonist is always a point of high contention in the community. While many people favour the lovable but idiotic Team Rocket, others often appreciate the more nuanced depiction of Gen 5’s spacesuit numpties. I personally love Alola’s Team Skull, mostly because I think their brazen stupidity is actually quite endearing. But none of these teams are able to contend with Gen 3’s Team Magma and Team Aqua....

Although Bethesda’s new review policy has prevented the release of Prey from being accompanied by the usual massive influx of praise and critique, the conversational buzz surrounding the game is definitely one that’s characterized mostly by the former. Arkane Studios appears to have developed another game that rewards players for approaching problems creatively while arming them with the tools to make even the wildest scenarios a possibility, and the open-ended nature of Prey’s various puzzles and battles has players eager to find out best practices as they progress throughout the game....

Pokemon’s influence has reached far and wide over the years, and the character of Professor Oak has been there from the beginning, appearing in nearly every season of the anime and a multitude of games. Sadly, Unshō Ishizuka, the man who helped bring Professor Oak to life, has now passed away. According to Unshō Ishizuka’s talent management agency, the prolific voice actor passed away after a fight with esophageal cancer. Ishizuka had been receiving medical treatment, but esophageal cancer is notorious for being aggressive and difficult to detect....

Halloween is right around the corner, and plenty of video games have been gearing up for the holiday’s arrival. Some games have added new skins for the month, others hosted their own events like Call of Duty: Warzone’s Halloween zombie invasion, and some games received extra content to fit the holiday. Today, Sony shared a surprise launch trailer for the puzzle horror game Stories Untold coming to the PS4. Stories Untold is an episodic horror adventure-puzzle game, the debut work of developer No Code that is published by Devolver Digital....

The next generation of video game consoles is right around the corner. With the Xbox Series X coming in November and the PlayStation 4 being released around the same time, by the end of the year fans will officially be playing next-gen games on the truly powerful consoles. However, even with the huge amount of excitement building up to these new consoles, one analyst believes that they will not dominate this holiday....

The PlayStation 5 releases in just one week, but it seems that a significant feature of the next-generation Sony console may not be ready in time. Sony has been advertising the PS5 as having an 825GB SSD storage solution for some time. To assuage worries that the PS5 may not have enough storage space, Sony’s also confirmed that the PS5 will have an expandable storage slot for NVMe devices. However, it’s now been confirmed that the PS5’s expandable storage will not be support at launch....

Sony has officially confirmed that it will hold an online event next week focused on unveiling new PlayStation 5 games. According to Sony, the event will focus entirely on PS5 games planned to launch holiday 2020. Expect over an hour awesome announcements and first looks. PlayStation fans can tune in online starting at 1:00 pm PT on June 4. The announcement of Sony’s “The Future of Gaming” PS5 event was made via social media and the official PlayStation Blog....

With the battle royale craze moving forward unabated, video game developers like Bluehole Studio are working hard to keep projects such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds stuffed with fresh wares in order to keep fans coming back for more. Now, the company has officially added War Mode to the iOS and Android versions of PUBG in an effort to have mobile players’ content remain consistent with the PC and Xbox One versions....

Rainbow Six Siege has more players actively playing the game now than it did when the game first launched. Game Rant takes a look at what spurred the drastic change in numbers. Ubisoft released the long-awaited Brazilian operator DLC for Rainbow Six Siege last week, a move which has seemingly delivered the game it’s biggest player base of all time. The current amount of players tuning in to try out Operation Skull Rain has put the player base almost 50% higher than what it was back when the game launched last December, indicating that a large demographic of players are here to stay when it comes to Rainbow Six Siege....

Rainbow Six Siege has opted for a unique Halloween event this year, as you’ll be heading into the mind of Frost for some Sugar Fright shenanigans on October 27. The new event runs until November 10 and includes a new mode, new rewards, and a new (hilarious) art style. According to a promo trailer released by Ubisoft, Halloween was Frost’s favorite holiday as a kid. Some of the fun was spoiled by her mom, however, who told her not to eat too many treats before going to bed – otherwise, she’d have spooky, sugar-induced nightmares....

Making a prequel to the acclaimed Red Dead Redemption was understandable given the game was largely about making up for past failings. However, it was also a tall order. Following one of the most revered open world games of all time (as well as a compelling western) comes with a heap of high expectations. Against all odds, Rockstar delivered. Red Dead Redemption 2 not only gives players a tremendously enrapturing western world to lose themselves in, but it’s a deeply personal tale that actually proves more engrossing and affecting than its predecessor....
