Nintendo has officially announced a release date for the highly anticipated Persona 5 Joker and Dragon Quest Hero Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo figures.

In an official tweet posted to the Nintendo of America Twitter account, Nintendo confirmed that both figures would be available in North America beginning October 2, 2020. Nintendo also announced that both figures would be available on September 25, 2020, in Europe and Japan, via their respective Twitter accounts. All three tweets were accompanied by a sleek video showcasing a 360-degree look at both Joker and Hero.

Both amiibo figures were announced last month, during the “Mr. Sakurai Presents a Fighter from ARMS” Super Smash Bros. Ultimate live stream.  Though the stream was mainly focused on announcing ARMS’ Min Min as the next playable DLC fighter in Smash Ultimate, the series director and producer Masahrio Sakurai took the end of the stream to announce both Joker and Hero would be getting their own official amiibo.

“I think it’s of great quality,” Sakurai said when showing off the Persona 5’s Joker amiibo sample that had been sent to him by Nintendo, “It’s supported by the transparent part. And these details! […] I’m glad I can admire this model at home. It’s nice.”

Following Joker’s amiibo announcement, Sakurai went on to say, “Since the amiibo for Joker is confirmed, what about the other DLC fighters? Naturally, I’m sure you’d assume Hero would be next.” After that, he grabbed a sample of Dragon Quest’s Hero amiibo to show off.

Beyond highly pleasing fans of both Persona 5 and Dragon Quest, Joker and Hero’s amiibo mark the first time characters from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass DLC have received their own amiibo. In the live stream, Sakurai assured fans they wouldn’t be the last two, saying, “We [Nintendo] plan to continue producing future amiibo for DLC fighters.” However, there is no official word from Sakurai or Nintendo regarding which other fighters will receive their own amiibo.

At this time, Joker and Hero’s figurines are not available for pre-order on Nintendo’s official website. But given this news, it’s likely a pre-order link will be available for both in the near future.
