The unyielding politician Toranosuke Yoshida spends his days giving soapbox speeches at the Shibuya Station Square. Though he’s unafraid to challenge the problems found in Japan’s political structure, his scandal-filled past has made it difficult for him to gain followers. Joker happens upon him giving a speech and later strikes a deal to become better at negotiation and persuasion. Here is a spoiler-free guide on how to max out his confidant in Persona 5 Royal.

Availability

Joker will first see Yoshida on 5/6 giving a speech in the Shibuya Station Square. Head over and listen to his speech, and afterward, he’ll talk to you. Tell him you’re interested in learning more about his speeches.

In order to unlock him, you’ll need to work at the Beef Bowl Shop twice on nights when Yoshida is giving a speech. After the second time, he’ll talk to you after your shift.

Beginning as early as the next day, you can talk to Yoshida in the Station Square to trigger the confidant.

Yoshida is available at nighttime on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. On rainy days, he is unavailable.

Note that Yoshida becomes unavailable after 11/13 for story-related reasons. If the rank has not been maxed out by the beginning of November, he will send Joker a text message reminding him that he will stop giving speeches “mid-November.”

Rank-Up Events

As with every confidant, having a persona of a corresponding arcana will increase the number of points you earn with them by one. The point increases with a Sun persona on hand are indicated in brackets next to the regular increases as such:

Prompt 1) point values for answers a, b, c [point values with matching persona]

However, it is important to note that your rank-up events with Yoshida will unlock automatically, so it isn’t necessary to bring a Sun persona with you when meeting with him. It isn’t even necessary to choose the responses that award the most affinity points.
