It’s no surprise that English fans of the Persona series were excited to get their hands on Persona 5 Strikers. Many were surprised to find out that most of the original game’s confidants aren’t present or even mentioned. In fact, Chihaya, Ohya, Shinya, Hifumi, Mishima, and Toronosuke are all completely missing from the game. While this is a bit disappointing, we do get information about the thief’s lives and snippets of dialogue about a few other characters.
For those wondering what happened to the confidants after the original game’s end, this list should help to quell their curiosity and give them a better picture of the in-game world.
12 Tai Takemi
Tai Takemi isn’t in the sequel, but there is a bit of information about her life. When Joker once again seeks her out for medicine, he finds out the clinic is closed for the summer. This is because Takemi is currently out of town improving her studies in the field of medicine.
This shows that after the original game ended, she kept pushing to make a good name for herself in the medical world.
11 Ann Takamaki
Ann Takamaki is a third-year highschooler in Strikers. Although she seems to slack off on her studies, she seems to be taking modeling much more seriously. In the game, she mentions that she wants to one day walk down the runway alongside some of the big names in the fashion industry.
She also seems to have enough ties with her current amount of fame to meet fashion celebrities.
10 Ryuji Sakamoto
Ryuji hasn’t really changed much since the first game, but he is now a third-year student as well. He still hasn’t dyed his hair back to normal, though, and the group makes many jokes at his expense.
Despite his vulgar attitude, he is still assertive and isn’t afraid to speak his mind.
9 Yusuke Kitagawa
Yusuke is still attending Kosei High and is in his last year of school. He is still finally burdened but pursues his art fiercely. He seems to have picked up even more weird habits, like being able to fall asleep while standing up.
It is also shown that Yusuke has the ability to create small models of Persona in Strikers.
8 Makoto Niijima
Makoto is now in college and, true to her word, is working towards entering law enforcement. She takes her studies incredibly seriously and seems to have matured since the group’s last adventures. This is shown with the amount of time she handles driving on the road.
During Strikers, she has a heartfelt conversation with Zenkichi about joining the police force.
7 Haru Okumura
Haru is now focusing on business classes in college in preparation of running her family’s company. Haru reveals that she is also concentrating on agriculture and has learned even more about growing fresh produce.
Her ultimate goal is still to open a cafe, and she even samples a regional food from Big Bang Burger while on the road.
6 Futaba Sakura
Futaba has come extremely far from what players saw in the first game. Futaba can now walk around large cities on her own and has an easier time talking to strangers. She is attending school on her own and is still close to her adoptive father, Sojiro.
Futaba is even able to tag along with the crew to the beach without any of her previous hang-ups.
5 Sojiro Sakura
Sojiro is actually still running his coffee shop, although it doesn’t look like he has attracted many customers. He seems to spend a lot of time with Futaba and goes out of his way to get the thieves a vehicle for their summer vacation.
Sojiro is kind towards Joker and shows that their relationship has developed even further from the end of the first game.
4 Mona
Mona seems to be a bit happier with the fact he is a cat. He still swoons when it comes to Ann and loves to eat good food. He lives with Joker full-time and doesn’t seem to mind the attention he gets from others.
Mona is understanding of Sophie, who has lost her memories, and helps to support her.
3 Iwai Munehisa
Iwai is another character that is not seen but mentioned in Strikers. Joker goes to buy weapons from Iwai, but there is a sign on the door saying he is out of town as well.
A conversation between Joker and Mona eludes to the fact that he’s likely vacationing with his son.
2 Kawakami Sadayo
Kawakami is probably the briefest mention in the game and is easy to miss as the dialogue only pops up for a short amount of time while still at Leblanc. Mona talks to Joker about waiting to call her on the phone.
This seems to point to the fact that the two still keep in regular contact.
1 Sai Niijima
Sai is present in the game and comes to the rescue of the phantom thieves when they find themselves wanted by the police. Her lawyer skills are just as sharp as ever, and she still seems to keep a close eye on Makoto.
Sae seems to be following the path of justice still as she is incredibly through with examing the thieves’ arrest warrant.
