Persona 5: The Animation is finally getting an official English dub, according to a brand new announcement from Aniplex complete with a trailer celebrating the release.

Aniplex of America’s official Twitter account (@aniplexUSA) broke the news earlier tonight with a tweet regarding the soon-to-be-released English dub. The tweet read: “The original Phantom Thieves are coming back to take your heart in the PERSONA5 the Animation Complete Blu-ray Set on September 29th, 2020 featuring a brand new ENGLISH DUB!” It was accompanied by a trailer featuring all the voice actors from the English dub from Persona 5’s original video game cast.

In the trailer announcement’s order, Persona 5: The Animation’s English dub cast is as follows:

  • Ren Amamiya (Joker) - Xander Mobus Ryuji Sakamoto - Max Mittelman Ann Takamaki - Erika Harlacher Morgana - Cassandra Lee Morris Yusuke Kitagawa - Matt Mercer Makoto Nijima - Cherami Leigh Futaba Sakura - Erica Lindbeck Haru Okumura - Xanthe Huynh Goro Akechi - Robbie Daymond

Currently, the only officially announced way to watch Persona 5: The Animation’s English dub is by ordering “The Complete Blu-Ray Set” advertised in Aniplex’s tweet. The set is currently available for pre-order on Right Stuff Anime’s website; it comes with two discs containing all twenty-six episodes, including two bonus episodes, as well as a set of illustration cards. At the time of writing, the pre-order price is $298.98.

Unfortunately, there’s no word yet regarding whether or not the English dub will be available on other streaming platforms, such as Crunchyroll, which currently features Persona 5: The Animation (Japanese cast) as part of their roster.

In addition to Aniplex’s confirmation that the Persona 5 anime would be dubbed, many of the English voice cast tweeted out regarding their excitement for the upcoming anime. This included Xander Mobus (Joker), Cassandra Lee Morris (Morgana), Max Mittelman (Ryuji), Erika Harlacher (Ann), Cherami Leigh (Makoto), and Erica Lindbeck (Futaba).

The original Persona 5: The Animation was released in Japan back in 2018. When the anime was first released, many Western fans of the series wondered if there would be an English dub; however, there was no definitive word until now.

Persona 5: The Animation Complete Blu-Ray Set is available now for pre-order. It will be released on September 29, 2020. It is currently unknown if the English dub of the anime will be available on any other streaming platforms.
