Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI is still a few years away, and that the company does not have any details to share at the moment. However, it seems that some fans didn’t get the message, and have been pestering the company’s vice president of public relations and marketing, Pete Hines, about the game and its release date. In return, it seems that Hines has had enough of the constant questions and told fans to “enjoy your disappointment.”
After one fan asked Hines about The Elder Scrolls VI, he said that it will release after Starfield which is also an upcoming Bethesda game. From that point on, Twitch user DansGaming replied by saying how he’s excited for Starfield and how he hopes Todd Howard does a deep dive into the game, to which Hines replied by saying “someday.” In return, another Twitter user jokingly replied to the comment by writing “S-s…sunday?? The subreddit is about to go nuts,” a play on words since ‘someday’ and ‘Sunday’ sound almost the same. At that point, Hines became frustrated with the comment and replied, “jfc. You guys are impossible. Enjoy your disappointment.”
A number of Twitter users replied, chastising Hines for his remarks and for his attitude towards the fan. Some made fun of Bethesda and games like Fallout 76, saying fans should enjoy their disappointment with them, considering their games are known for their glitches and bugs.
It’s difficult to blame Bethesda’s vice president of public relations and marketing, though. Being constantly asked the same question and giving a logical and coherent reply, but only to be asked the exact same question in return can prove to be frustrating and annoying to deal with.
Ultimately (and as stated before by Bethesda and by Hines himself,) it’s best to wait for The Elder Scrolls VI details after Starfield releases. Considering how the game was unveiled at E3 2018, it’s safe to say that it is definitely happening, but will take some time.
