In a recent video, YouTuber PewDiePie reacts to a dating coach’s take on his relationship with his wife Marzia and opens up about their history together and what makes them a successful couple.
Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg and his now-wife Marzia, who ran her own YouTube channel CutiePieMarzia for a few years, have been together for nearly a decade. They began dating in 2011 because Marzia was a fan of the then-small-time content creator, and she messaged him that she thought his videos were funny. Eventually, they would settle down in England together and marry in 2019. Though Marzia was not initially ready for the amount of fame Felix would eventually encounter, they are noted for being one of the healthiest couples on the internet.
Dating coach Anthony Recenello, who has his own mildly successful YouTube channel, would also agree. One series featured on his channel is an analysis of online personalities and their romantic relationships. It’s not a surprise to see him cover one of the most long-lasting ones, Felix and Marzia Kjellberg, where he notes some positive points that have resulted in a very healthy marriage.
Early on, Recenello notes that Felix and Marzia don’t force themselves to look perfect on camera unlike many other internet couples, and that’s a good thing. He has a positive outlook for the very successful YouTuber, though he does spend much of the reaction video under the wrongful impression that Felix was a big YouTuber at the time and says, “I wonder how many times PewDiePie has actually gone on dates with his subscribers,” not realizing that Felix had just started his channel when Marzia first contacted him. Still, he follows up by commenting that the relationship “was romantic from the getgo.”
Recenello’s main note after seeing Felix and Marzia’s first messages is how straightforward the two were with one another. They got right to the point of a romantic relationship from the very beginning, which Recenello found very interesting. Felix responds, “I don’t like to beat around the bush, it’s a waste of time.” And while the dating coach is largely misguided on the origins of the relationship, he ultimately has a positive view on how the couple began dating, which Felix agrees with.
“It’s easier to find someone if you enter the circles of the kind of people that you are comfortable with, it’s much easier to find someone that you like,” PewDiePie explains, “and you don’t have to pretend to be someone else.” Despite this advice, Felix doesn’t think he and Marzia actually had much in common when they first met back in 2011. He finishes by saying that he and Marzia were honest with one another “one hundred percent” which led to a successful relationship.
