Phantasy Star Online 2 hasn’t been out very long in the west, but Sega is already fast at work to make up for the game’s rough start earlier this year with crossovers, content updates, and events. Next week, you’ll be able to dive right into a massive content update with the launch of episode six on December 9.

Episode five just hit the game in October of this year, bringing new story updates, the first Scion class, an increased level cap, and events. And just as with Episode five, this latest content drop includes a Road to Episode Six event that delivers tons of goodies to eager operatives in preparation for the new adventure. Since November 25, you’ve been able to snag things like 15-star weapons, emotes, and login bonuses. Some of the fanfare from the Road to Episode Six event will continue well beyond launch and end on December 22.

As for episode six itself, it’s a doozy. The new story picks up where you last left off, declaring victory in the Alternate Dimension: Omega and closing a nasty black hole. Of course, you can never have peace for too long, and a new character with a familiar appearance will make her debut as Shiva, the Goddess of Annihilation.

You can also give two new Scion classes a whirl. Phantoms modify a Rod or Katana’s Photon Arts at will, providing them a handy variety of ways to engage. The Étoile will bring additional defense and support skills into the action and excel in aerial mobility. Both of these new additions will be available as a subclass. Just as you’ve come to expect from Scions, you’ll have to be a senior operative with two classes at level 75 before you can try either out.

Risk Exploration, a new quest type, will also hit the universe and bring a new level of challenge to more experienced players. In Sega’s lengthy update post, they mention these new adventures are only for those who have taken on enemies in Ultra Hard Difficulty. As with any new trial, Risk Exploration brings new awards in the form of 15 and 13-star gear.

The player level cap will climb again, this time increasing to 95. You can also expect to see more of the usual adjustments to classes and the account character creation limit will increase to 30.  New enemy types, the Luminmech, and summoner pets Herbie and Vulcan will join episode six in what feels like one of the biggest yet. Until then, make sure you’re participating in the Road to Episode Six for those daily rewards and rare drops, you can never be too prepared.
