If you want the state of the art where 2D picture quality is concerned, the Philips 46PFL9707 is it. Its combination of a Moth-Eye filter, local dimming, direct LED lighting and high-level processing can deliver pictures so good they have to be seen to be believed. Philips’ flagship set also produces some exceptional sound to keep its class-leading 2D pictures company. The catch is that pictures look nowhere near as assured in 3D mode, thanks to the appearance of more crosstalk noise than you would expect to see on a £2,300 TV
