It’s all silent on the Wii U front, but Nintendo has decided to take down that console’s eShop listing for Pikmin 3 after the announcement of a Switch Deluxe version.

Nintendo Everything found out that you cannot search for Pikmin 3 on the Wii U eShop and, when looking on the Nintendo website, it no longer gives you an option to buy the game digitally. Let’s hope people who own the game can still download it; that would sprout a huge problem for Wii U owners.

The Japanese publisher has done this before with Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze when that game’s Switch version came out, but this strategy seems to have worked for Nintendo. In fact, the port of the game outsold the original version in just 2 weeks. That’s bananas!

Pikmin 3 Deluxe, when it releases on Switch this October, will have all the DLC included, a co-op mode, multiple difficulties, and new side missions with Alph and his team.

Alph and his crew find themselves stranded on a mysterious planet called PNF-404 after a harsh crash landing. Now, they must enlist the help of the Pikmin to survive and battle against the bugs surrounding them. While that sounds pretty heavy, this game has a lot of levity and bright visuals to charm new players to the series.

Nintendo fans are hoping more Wii U games get ported to the Switch, like the excellent Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker remaster (with improved mechanics) and Super Mario 3D World. Xenoblade Chronicles X is another one that Monolift Soft fans are hoping gets the port treatment. Maybe that will be given a Definitive Editon like the original Xenoblade game that released earlier this year.

2020 has been a pretty barren year for Nintendo so far. We’ve had the stellar release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the decently reviewed Paper Mario: The Origami King, but Nintendo hasn’t been pulling out all the stops. With just a slightly retooled remaster of Pikmin 3 on the way for this year, it’s hard to feel confident in the Switch’s lineup for the Fall season.

Hopefully, it can turn it around with the rumored 3D Mario remasters, long overdue sequels to its forgotten franchises, or maybe, just maybe, the promise of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel coming out early 2021.
