Next-gen gaming is understandably the main selling point of the PlayStation 5, but that’s not all the new console will have to offer when it launches next month. Sony has confirmed that the PS5 will support multiple streaming apps at launch, and now one can add Plex to that list.
The streaming landscape has shifted a lot in the past year, with the arrival of major players like Disney+ and HBO Max, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic causing many new movies to skip their theatrical runs entirely in favor of online premieres. Given how prevalent streaming has become, and given Sony’s high sales expectations for the PS5, it’s likely that the console’s selection of apps will serve to make it all the more desirable to consumers who are interested in more than just next-gen games.
The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and on November 19 everywhere else.
