The Pokémon Sword & Shield games introduced players to the Galar region, which brought so many unique mechanics and a more detailed overworld that players are still having a blast playing the games.
Many of the things introduced are so fun, that Pokémon fans are still making memes about them. In this list you will find some of the funniest memes about the Galar region to have a laugh while you wait for the Crown Thundra DLC.
10 Red Ranger’s New Zord
Some Pokémon are so big and powerful that they might well be Power Ranger zords, and this is especially true in the Galar region where every Pokémon can turn into a giant thanks to the power of an ancient meteorite.
The Red Ranger would probably also use a Dragon-type Pokémon seeing that his zord was basically a giant Tyrantrum made of metal. But seeing that Zamazenta is a Fighting-type then it still fits the Red Ranger’s personality.

9 Feral Meowth
Meowth’s Galar Form looks less like a regional variation and more like someone’s lost pet. It’s nice how regional variations bring old Pokémon to new settings, as it helps Pokémon keep a touch of familiarity to more recent games.
This regional form is inspired by barbarians, which is why Meowth appears to have an unkempt beard. Galarian Meowth’s evolution, Perrserker, even adds a horned helmet made of fur and dagger-like claws to give it a more Viking-like appearance.
8 Well Yes, They Are
There’s something about the Galarian Weezing’s design that makes it more pleasant to see than its original form, and it’s probably its elongated top-hat and well-trimmed mustache that adds a touch of class to its looks.
And competitively speaking, Galarian Weezing is superior to its normal variation due to its dual typing. The Poison / Fairy type combination can be played both defensively and offensively, and it counters many of the most powerful Pokémon played in the Sword and Shield competitive meta.
7 The 3rd Brother
Pokémon Sword & Shield featured awesome character designs that put unique styles and personalities to each and every character found in the game, except for two: Sordward and Shielbert, who are the main antagonists of the post-game story.
Their hairstyles are obviously shaped in the form of a shield and a sword, which made fans make fun of them as soon as they were introduced into the game. Game Freak really needs to add Gunnor into the game to complement Shielbert’s and Sordart’s hairstyles.
6 Is Your Wooloo Ok?
The “Dexit” is perhaps, the most infamous design choice that Game Freak has ever made. Pokémon fans lost their minds when they heard that many of their favorite Pokémon won’t be added into the final game.
Game Freak announced that they plan to keep adding cut Pokémon to the Sword & Shield games via DLC, but this was also met with mixed opinions. This has led fans to vent their disappointment in the form of ideas about how would they smuggle their favorite Pokémon into the Galar region.
5 Oof
The wild area introduced players to a new fear: being chased by wild overleveled Pokémon. It’s a pretty fun experience at first, as Pokémon that are way stronger than yours can really put a dent in unprepared teams as they hit hard and often move first.
The wild area also offers players a way to camp with Pokémons and cook for them. But while the wild area offers players a more interesting way of experiencing the Pokémon world, many players feels that it needs more content so it doesn’t look empty.
4 This Never Gets Old
If you were to smuggle your favorite Pokémon into the Galar region, how’d you do it? Some Pokémon can easily pass for a Galar Pokémon with only just a few visual adjustments, which is why it’s fun to see fans trying to disguise some of their favorite ones. Maybe Game Freak will eventually realize their mistake and implement the National Pokédex so fans can bring their old pals into the Galar region.
3 Gigantamax Inteleon Gets Smarter, Not Larger
Gigantamax transformations are a pleasant addition to the games, as trainers are now able to turn any Pokémon into an JRPG boss. Pokémon that undergone Gmax transformation grow very large and change forms so their bodies can fit their newly found power.
But while other Pokémon grow larger when they begin their Gmax transformations, Inteleon only grows its tail so he can have a tall tower to snipe its enemies. This Pokémon is way too smart to go toe-to-toe with others in battle, as it’s way easier to just shoot at them from its tower using its literal finger-gun.
2 Charizard Got A New Form, Again?
Charizard is probably Game Freak’s favorite starter, as every time a new mechanic or transformation gets added to the game this Pokémon also gets a new one. Sure, Blastoise and Venusaur also got new Gmax forms, but they never get as much fanfare or attention as Charizard does. But this is done due to Charmander being the most popular Gen I starter, and giving it some love is always a good marketing strategy.
1 Oh No
If there’s something that players didn’t expect about Pokémon Sword & Shield, is that the games offer players a way of cooking curries. It totally makes sense if you think about it, as trainers need to learn how to cook since they will be camping in wild areas regularly. They just need to make sure that they’re using Fancy Apples and not their poor Applin whenever they cook an apple curry.
