Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire were the most successful games of the Game Boy Advance, and for a good reason. It was the first time that players could see their Pokémon in good detail, and it also introduced many quality-of-life changes that made the games so good to play.
Another good thing that the Ruby & Sapphire games had was the Hoenn region, which was inspired by Kyushu island. To celebrate these games, in this list we’re going to show you some of the funniest and most interesting comics about the Hoenn region, so you can have fun while reminiscing about this great Pokémon generation.

10 Deoxys Loves Treats Too
The Ruby & Sapphire remakes brought over the Pokémon Amie from the X & Y games, which is a function that lets trainers pet their Pokémon, play mini-games with them, and even feed them treats.
While it isn’t known if Deoxys has any mouth of sorts, he’d probably be very angry if someone were to take its snacks. It’s never a good idea to cross Deoxys, as it’s one of the most powerful Pokémon of the Hoenn games, so just keep him happy feeding him his favorite Poké Puffs.

9 Doing Laundry With Deoxys
One of the most interesting things about Deoxys is that he can change forms according to which meteor you use on it. Its forms are named according to their strengths: Speed, Attack, Defense, and Normal.
What people don’t know is that Deoxys also has the Handmaiden forme, which lets him help its trainers with efficiency. Just kidding, but imagine how nice would be if Deoxys used his Speed forme to do your house chores, having the highest Speed stat of all Pokémon, he would do them in no time.
8 Coolest Rock Nerd Ever
In the Ruby & Sapphire games, Steven is the current Pokémon Champion of the Hoenn region. He’s the philanthropist son of Devon’s CEO, Mr. Stone, and he’s very enthusiastic about rocks, minerals, and caves.
He loves these things so much that the first time you find him he’s inside a cave. It’d be interesting to see Steven being interviewed on TV, as he literally threw away his career as a Pokémon trainer to find rare rocks, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if many of his answers included rock puns.
7 How’s The Weather?
One of the cutest Pokémon of the Ruby & Sapphire games is Castform, as it’s able to change its form according to the weather. You get one after rescuing a group of scientists from Aqua & Magma grunts, and it’s pretty useful if you’re running a weather team.
Since Castform is used on teams that rely on weather conditions, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this Pokémon gets quickly tired of its teammates pranking him with weather moves. But who can pass that opportunity? All of Castform’s forms are really cute!
6 Your Fault
Ahh Rayquaza, one of the most powerful Pokémon to ever exist. This green atmospheric iguana is said to live in the ozone layer, where it feeds from meteors. Rayquaza is one of the most emblematic Pokémon of the Hoenn games, as it’s the master of the weather trio.
Some real-life spray repellents can cause damage to the ozone layer, as they can release damaging chemicals that are capable of eroding it over time. So, it’s certainly a bad idea to use a lot of repels, as you might end up destroying someone’s home.
5 He’ll Be Fine
Hoenn’s starters are very desirable Pokémon, as they’re one of the only two groups of starters that are able to Mega Evolve, and they also have very awesome designs! Anyway, you might already know how you earn your first starter in the Ruby & Sapphire games.
If you don’t, well, you just need to save Professor Birch from a Poochyena, how did he got caught by such a weak Pokémon? We’ll never know. But what we do know is that few players would agree to pick just one starter, they’re all awesome!
4 Swampbruh
When the first Mega Evolutions were shown to the Pokémon communities to market the X & Y games, many were very excited about them.
Some fans were very angry about the fact that some Pokémon, like Charizard and Mewtwo, got two Mega Evolutions. Blaziken was the first Hoenn starter to receive one in the X & Y games, and Swampert and Sceptile got theirs with the Ruby & Sapphire remakes, so it makes perfect sense for Swampert to be so eager to chug Mega Stones.
3 Fly Or Die, Remember?
If there’s a Pokémon that literally achieves its childhood dreams upon evolving, is Salamence. This Pokémon’s first form is a flightless dragon called Bagon, and they literally throw themselves from very tall places to force themselves to evolve, as flying is their most primal instinct.
Salamence was one of the lucky Pokémon to receive a Mega Evolution, which turned him into one of the most feared Pokémon of the competitive scene. One of its Pokédex entries says that Mega Salamence flies all over the world at high speeds, just because.
2 A Grass Starter You Say?
Every Hoenn starter has a thing going on for them, Blaziken is regarded as the strongest starter of all starters thanks to its Mega Evolution and Speed Boost ability, Swampert’s pre-evolution, Mudkip, is a literal memestar, and Sceptile, well…
Sceptile is not as famous nor as useful in a competitive setting, but at least he doesn’t look like he cares at all. Trainers who pick Treecko do so because they like how cool it is, so, if you just don’t care about being competitive or having a literal memestar as a partner, just pick Treecko.
1 He’s Not Good At Planning Things
Archie is Team Aqua’s leader, and he’s known for his insane love of water. The main reason he wanted to possess the power of Kyogre was because he wanted to rise the sea as he, for some reason, thought that that would make the Pokémon world a better place.
But he obviously had a second thought about it once he realized that some living beings needed land to survive. Although, he may have thought that since he released Kyogre, the Pokémon would obey his commands and that he didn’t need a Poké Ball. Maybe this is the player’s fault for taking away his Master Ball.
