Pikachu is loved by so many Pokémon fans and part of that is because of its electrifying type. The Electric-Type is known throughout the Pokémon world as a powerful type that bends electricity to the will of the Pokémon. There are so many facts about this type that Pokémon fans have never been aware of and this list will list a few.
Electric-Types are a fan favorite and fans are about to find out some of the reasons why that is. From Electric-Type mega evolutions to Pichu’s appearance in spin-off Pokémongames, here are 10 facts that most fans never knew about Electric-Type Pokémon!
10 Aloan Golem Has The Highest Electric-Type Defense Stat
Golem is a powerful Pokémon that has been around since Gen-I and it’s a fan favorite rock-type. Most fans weren’t expecting an Electric-Type version of Golem to appear in the franchise, but it did in Alola and it was incredibly powerful.
Alolan Golem has the highest defense Stat of any Electric-Type, which a somewhat funny because it’s original form isn’t even an Electric-Type! Hopefully, fans will see more powerful Pokémon get electric forms in future regions introduced to the franchise.
9 There Are Only 53 Electric-Type Pokémon
The amount of Electric-Type Pokémon in the series is only a low number of 53. That’s around 6% of all Pokémon. This is a surprising tidbit because the mascot of the franchise is Pikachu, and players would expect such a well-known type to have more creatures to catch.
Luckily, there are so many good Electric Pokémon to choose from but it would still be great to see more of these electric critters in the future. Electric-Types remain a fan favorite despite the low amount of them that exist!
8 Joltik Is The Smallest Electric-Type Pokémon
Joltik is a dual Electric/Bug-type Pokémon and because of its bug classification, it’s extremely tiny. It also happens to be the smallest Electric-Type Pokémon and it’s extremely cute.
There’s lots of small Pokémon that are Electric-Types because a lot of them are similar to Pikachu and they resemble rodents. Rodents are usually small even in the Pokémon world and although they are tiny, they are filled with powerful static that can be converted into electric attacks to attack the enemy with.
7 Lantern Can Use A Water-Type Pokémon’s Attack
Lantern and its pre-evolution can have the ability Volt Absorb which is special because they are the only Water-Type Pokémon that are capable of having this particular ability. This is so rare because Water-Type and Electric-Type Pokémon rarely come together, but this Pokémon makes it work quite well.
Volt Absorb is a very useful ability and for a Water-Type, it definitely creates a funny combination. Trainers that love both Water and Electric-Type Pokémon should definitely attempt to catch this glowing fish so they can have another Pokémon partner that fits their style!
6 Zekrom Has The Highest Electric-Type Attack Stat
Zekrom has the best attack stat of any Electric-Type Pokémon. This Unova legendary beast has a giant attack power at 150. It’s not uncommon for legendaries to have very high stats, and Zekrom appears to be the exact same in that regard.
Unova introduced so many strong Pokémon, but Zekrom’s high stats make it one of the strongest in the entire region. Most Electric-Type Pokémon are very strong in terms of attack power but Zekrom definitely takes the cake!
5 Every Gen-I Electric Attack Had The Word “Thunder” In It
During the old days of the first generation, every single attack in the game that was Electric-Type had the word “thunder” somewhere within its name. The designers must have loved the move Thunderbolt so much that they decided to copy it with other moves!
Many fans love Electric-Type moves because of their exciting animations and powerful damage output, however, they could get bored if every move still sounded so similar. Many fans don’t realize that every Gen-I move used the word “thunder” in their attacks, which is why it definitely deserves a spot on this list!
4 Electrode Has The Highest Electric-Type Speed Stat
Electrode roughly resembles a Pokéball-type sphere but it is much larger than most Pokéballs. It has one pre-evolution called Voltorb. This Pokémon was first introduced in Gen-I and it is a pure Electric-Type. Electrode happens to have the highest speed stat of the Electric-Typing.
Its spherical attributes allow it to roll around and this ability makes it a speedy and agile Pokémon. Electrode is great at self-destructing and taking its enemy with it so it needs the speed to get close enough to its enemy to explode.
3 Mega Ampharos Has The Highest Electric-Type Base Stats
Mega Ampharos is one of the strongest Pokémon in the entire franchise. The regular version of Ampharos is powerful but nothing particularly special. Once it evolves into its Mega Evolution, it becomes a foe that can beat almost any other Pokémon.
It’s surprising that Mega Ampharos actually has the highest base stat of any Electric-Type in the series. Its high stats help it rain down thunder upon its enemies. Trainers that prefer Electric-Type should definitely obtain one of these if they are able to.
2 Pichu Is The Player’s Partner In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs
Pichu is the adorable baby Pokémon to the mascot Pikachu. It’s no wonder that Pichu often shows up in promotional art or Pokémon spin-off games because fans absolutely adore this smaller Pikachu.
Pichu appeared as the player’s partner Pokémon in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs. This is a fact that most Pokémon fans don’t know because the PokémonRanger games were only played by the most dedicated fans of the series. Pichu is the perfect partner Pokémon, especially in a PokémonRanger game.
1 There Are Only 2 Electric-Type Mega Evolutions
Each Pokémon Type only has a few mega evolutions each so although this fact isn’t surprising, it’s also somewhat weird to think that the mascot type of the series got a low number of mega evolutions. Everyone wanted a Mega Pikachu but, unfortunately, it was never created. Then again, there is a Giagantamax Pikachu form!
One of the two Electric mega evolution is the aforementioned Ampharos and the other is Manectric. These two Pokémon are somewhat underrated in the franchise, so it was great to see them get some love in Gen-VI. Many fans didn’t realize how few mega evolutions this electrifying type, has which is why it deserves the highest spot on this list!
