Ash Ketchum has long kept viewers of the Pokémon anime series coming back for more to see him become the very best, like no one ever was. Yet for as skilled a Pokémon trainer as Ash is, and as fierce a competitor as he is, he might actually just be better off fighting other Pokémon and trainers himself.

To start off with, Ash is a clear acrobat and has impressive upper body strength. A video posted to Reddit by user Peterrior55 clearly displays Ash’s utter Nathan Drake-like skills in movement and coordination.

Climbing a pole, with a Pikachu hanging on to you, is no easy feat. Further, Ash appears to do this effortlessly. It’s almost enviable and makes one wonder why Ash is spending his time training Pokémon rather than being an acrobat or demonstrating his skill in similar ways.

Moreover, as reported by Kotaku, Ash Ketchum is capable of a whole lot more than impressive coordination. His strength may rival even the heaviest of strongmen out there. Take, for example, his ability to hold his forearm out and let a 35 lb. Fletchinder particularly puts numerous bodybuilders to shame.

Or, for instance, Ash is capable of easily carrying Pokémon that weigh as much as a human being. While there’s evidence from the show that Ash can lift a 122 lb. Pignite, Ash can be seen, at one point, holding a Larvitar with apparent ease.

The Larvitar pictured above is about 158 lbs. That’s about the bodyweight of a medium-sized man. More egregiously, Ash doesn’t appear in anguish above. Rather, he looks overjoyed at something while holding the formidably heavy Larvitar.

For being so dead set on becoming the best Pokémon trainer there is, it seems as though Ash’s real hobby should be bodybuilding.

There are many peculiar aspects of Ash Ketchum. Namely, he has stayed the same age for a long time, the identity of his father is unclear, and he has failed nearly all of his matches despite contradictory aspirations. This only adds a whole other layer of mystery to the famed Pokémon trainer. Frankly, he might just be better off fighting the Pokémon himself.
