Pokémon GO is in the middle of another round of events. This time it’s a series of “Throwback” challenges that gives players a series of tasks devoted to certain regions of the main games. The current run is Hoenn, celebrating the Ruby & Sapphire series. To celebrate those games, Pokémon GO Trainers will catch Pokémon of different types, typically relating to the Gym Leaders of Hoenn.
The fourth Gym Leader is Flannery, the Fire-type user. As such, one of the tasks of step four is to catch a Fire-type Pokémon. Torchic is probably the go-to Fire-type of Hoenn for many fans. But getting the chicken may be hard if you live in an area that’s more known for Grass, Water, and Bug-type spawns. It might even be an uncommon spawn in a Rock/Ground biome. But as Jedi Master Yoda would say, there is another.
Numel could be the Fire-type you seek if you live in an area known for Ground-type spawns. You’d be forgiven for forgetting that as it feels more like a Ground-type (which it is), especially if you’re used to seeing it spawn with the likes of Diglett and Sandshrew. Still, it’s a volcano, and those get quite fiery. So while it might seem obvious to some, feel free to bag a Numel if Torchic won’t show.
