Mega Evolutions are now in Pokémon GO. With your Mega Bracelet at the ready, you too can Mega Evolve your favorite ‘mon to take on the world. Rather than requiring the appropriate Mega Crystal as with the previous Pokémon games, Mega Evolution in Pokémon GO requires Mega Energy which can only be obtained from defeated Mega Raid Bosses.
That means if you want your best Pidgeot to evolve, you’re going to need to defeat at least four Mega Pidgeots out in the wild. It’s a tall order, but we’ve got the tactics to help take down this giant bird.
Pokémon Go Pidgeot - Analysis
Pidgeot is a Normal/Flying-type, making it weak against Rock, Electric, and Ice-type Pokémon, but strong against Grass, Fighting, and Bug-types. For this reason, it’s recommended that you fight Mega Pidgeot while it is either partly cloudy, snowy, or raining in order to power-up Rock, Electric, and Ice-type moves.
Mega Pidgeot’s Fast Moves can either be Air Slash or Steel Wing, while its Charge Moves are all Flying-types: Hurricane, Aerial Ace, and Brave Bird. Brave Bird is easily the strongest of the three, so hopefully the Mega Pidgeot you face won’t have it.
With the appropriate weather and strong counters, Mega Pidgeot is possible to beat with just two trainers. Otherwise, 3-5 strong trainers should have no problem taking Mega Pidgeot down.
Pokémon Go Pidgeot — Best Counters
Pidgeot is weak to Rock, Ice, and Electric-types. We’d recommend Zekrom, Rhyperior, Raiko, Terrakion, Electivire, Rampardos, Magnezone, Zapdos, Mamoswine, Luxray, Tyranitar, and Aerodactyl as your counters in this fight. Weavile, Galarian Darmanitan, and Glaceon are also decent choices, but they’ll struggle with Mega Pidgeot’s Steel Wing due to their Ice typing.
