Trainers level 40 and above in Pokémon GO can now use a Remote Raid Pass to take part in any Raid Battle they can see on the map.
Niantic continues to do everything it can think of to allow players to play Pokémon GO alone and even from home. The 3 km entry fee for its Battle League has been waved, hatch distances of all eggs have been halved, and even events like last weekend’s Abra Community Day have been changed so they are more social distancing friendly.
The latest change comes in the form of Remote Raid Passes, as revealed by Pokémon GO on Twitter. A Remote Raid Pass allows players to take part in any Raid Battle they can see on the map, thus eliminating the need to be right alongside the gym in which the Raid Battle is taking place. The feature should be live for level 40 trainers right now.
As is the case with most new features, Pokémon GO has promised that Remote Raid Passes will gradually be rolled out to more trainers. The perk of grinding until level 40 is getting features like this one first. As for the benefits of Remote Raid Passes, aside from being able to take part in Raid Battles from further away, it also increases the likelihood of others joining you in those raids.
