The latest update to Pokémon Home means people can’t request Pokémon on the GTS that should be impossible to get.

Wednesday had a lot of big announcements thanks to Pokémon Presents. We got our first look at a brand new Pokémon Snap game, a mobile cooking game called Pokémon Cafe Mix, and an addition to the Pokémon App that’ll help kids remember to brush their teeth.

Not to mention the big Pokémon GO announcements, including Mega Evolutions and a digital-only version of Pokémon GO Fest 2020.

But buried in this whirlwind of huge Pokémon news was a little update to Pokémon Home. Most of that update was just so that you could use Home with the new Isle of Armor expansion of Pokémon Sword & Shield, as well as a few minor bug fixes. They also “updated the GTS so that impossible search conditions cannot be set under ‘Pokémon wanted,’” which is actually a pretty big deal.

Previously, people could use Pokémon Home’s GTS functionality to request Pokémon that were technically impossible, such as level 1 Legendaries (which can’t breed, so they can never be level 1) and male Dittos (which are genderless). The vast majority of these requests were likely just people trolling other players, but more than a few were actually requests to hackers for hacked Pokémon.

By getting rid of these impossible requests, Nintendo is cracking down on hackers and the people that support them by asking for their wares.

That’s not all the update brought us. Pokémon dataminer @SciresM also used the latest Pokémon Home update to determine the Pokédex numbers of the new Pokémon in Isle of Armor. It turns out that Kubfu is 891, Urshifu is 892, and Zarude is 893.

We’ve got plenty of guides on how to get through the new content found in Isle of Armor, such as what to do with Kubfu in order to train it up as quickly as possible.
