Building the right team is key to victory in Pokémon Masters. The player needs to strategically balance attacking, defending, and disrupting the enemies strategies. A critical role for long term survival is support. Having the right sync pair for this task can ensure the other two pairs can survive long enough to do their job.
Which pair is best for the player’s team largely depends on who they have in the other two slots. But for those starting out or need a starting point then here are some great suggestions for who to pick for Support.
10 Sygna Suit Blue & Mega Blastoise
Sygna Suit Blue with a Mega Blastoise is a simple but effective support pair. Mega Blastoise can use X Defense All to dramatically raise allies’ defense which is great for Tech based teams that do damage over time. This syncs well with Triumphant Hydro Cannon as the attack raises based on the Defense of the user.
It can also use Water Pulse which not only does decent damage, but has a chance to cause Confusion. Generally speaking this is a tanky support which can keep weaker allies alive longer, potentially disrupt the enemy’s moves, and do some decent damage on it’s own.
9 Rosa & Delibird
Rosa with Delibird can use X attack All to raise the Attack of allies which is great for Striker-based teams. Its most impressive move is All The Presents! which not only nudges allies move gauges a little but also raises allies’ Speed and either Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Evasiveness or Accuracy at random.
Delibird also has self sustaining abilities like Wide Awake which prevents it from falling asleep and Healing Hail 1 which lets it heal whenever taking an action during Hailstorms.
8 Misty & Starmie
Misty with Starmie is a tanky combo that can do wonders on both side of the battlefield. For starters it has the move Catch Us If You Can! that can raise an ally’s evasiveness and let them gradually heal themselves. It also has X Sp. Def All which raises the Special Defense of all allies. This syncs well with Tomboyish Mermaid Bubble Beam attack that raises as Special Defense goes up.
The move Bubble Beam does decent damage and has a chance of lowering the enemies Speed. Its passive Healing Hand 2 can sometimes remove all status effects from all allies whenever Starmie moves. This is a great choice against Tech-based teams and for making allies harder to hit by raising their evasiveness and lowering enemy speed.
7 Player & Torchic
Surprisingly the Player with Torchic makes a great support pair adaptable to many team compositions. X Attack All can raise allies’ Attack and Blazing Hope! is amazing as it raises both Special Attack and critical hit chance. This means it is great support on Special Attack teams and can hold its own with Attack-based.
Torchic also has the handy passive of preventing its Speed from being lowered. This means it can exploit Flame Charge to deal attack and raise its own Speed without ever losing it. Finally, it’s move Flamethrower has the small chance of causing target’s to be burned.
6 Phoebe & Dusknoir
Phoebe with Dusknoir is tricky Support pair to master but can be very effective. Dire Hit All + will raise the critical hit rate of all allies. Unbreakable Bonds! is an interesting buff as it’ll raise the move gauge and Attack of allies, but this will increase the lower the ghost’s health is.
Once it faints its passive Pass It On will give its raised stats to whoever switches in. Players can intentionally lower Dusknoirs health via Double-Edge as 25% of the damage the attack deals is given to Dusknoir. As stated before it’s a tricky Support pair, but can work wonders when handled properly.
5 Rosa & Snivy
Rosa with Snivy is a solid pair for Striker-based teams that can keep itself alive. X Sp. Attack All can raise the Special Attack of all allies and Time To Energyize! will increase the move gauges of everyone by three.
Once it’s boosted its teammates it can use Energy Ball to deal damage and sometimes lower the target’s Special Defense. Once it starts taking damage it can use Giga Drain to deal guaranteed damage and heal itself by the damage it dealt
4 Lyra & Meganium
Lyra and Meganium is an HP tank that provides great support for Strikers. With Dire Hit All it can raise the critical hit chance of all allies. This synergizes well with Sunny Side Up! which raises the Attack, Special Attack, and Speed of all allies, these buffs increase if the weather is sunny.
Once it’s beefed up its allies it can use Light Screen to keep them alive by reducing the special damage allies receive. It’s also immune to status effects in sunny weather which allow sit to spam Energy Ball for decent damage and possible lower target’s Special Defense.
3 Sygna Suit Elesa & Rotom
Sygna Suit Elesa with Rotom are an excellent pair for Special Attack teams with some teeth as a Tech fighter. X Sp. Attack All raises Special Attack for all teammates. The move Breathtaking! can only be used once but lowers the sync move countdown for an ally, raises their Accuracy and critical hit rate. This buff gets a boost if the team already has a sync buff.
Once the team is properly boosted Rotom jumps into the fray with the powerful Thunder attack which never misses in Rainy weather and can cause target’s to be paralyzed. Then for it’s own survivability is has passives that causes its Evasiveness to increases whenever its attacked and cannot ever lose its Evasiveness.
2 Skyla & Swanna
Skyla and Swanna is basically a Support/Striker hybrid. As a Support it can use Take Flight to raise the Defense and Speed of all allies. Then it can use Potion to heal an ally. With the passive Haste it can never lose Speed.
After it’s used up it’s support moves it becomes an effective Striker. Aerial Ace never misses it’s target and it’s Sync Move High-Flying Sky Attack is brutal after Swanna’s Speed has been raised a little.
1 Sabrina & Mega Alakazam
Sabrina with Mega Alakazam is a great pair for Special Attack-based team with the ability to stand in as Striker if need be. Its primary support move is Sixth Sense! As it can raise an ally’s Special Attack, their accuracy, and also heal them a little.
With Dire Hit All it can raise all allies critical hit chance and Reflect can be used to reduce incoming physical damage to all allies. If the team’s Striker falls Mega Alakazam can spam Psychic for great damage and potentially lower the target’s Special Defense.
