Each Sync Pair in Pokemon Masters falls into a different role they’re meant to serve on the player’s team. Strikers do damage, Supports heal and buff, but Tech is all about sabotaging the enemy through status conditions and debuffs.
The best Tech pairs are those who can disrupt the enemies plans, severely weaken them, and even change the weather. Finding the right pair can be complicated and many are difficult to master. But for those starting out these are hands down the best Tech Pairs to put on the team.
10 Agatha & Mega Gengar
Agatha and Mega Gengar are a powerful combo in that they can seriously disrupt the enemy’s strategy and function as a strong Special Striker on their own. Mega Gengar also has a passive that prevents it from being put to sleep, a common status condition used by opponents.
The trick to this pair is to carefully boost Speed with Rung Along Now! that will also take 25% of Gengar’s HP. Then just before using Mega evolve the player should put a target to sleep with Hypnosis, this causes the Sync Move to do even more damage. Then it’s a matter of putting enemies to sleep with Hypnosis, pummeling them with Shadow Ball that can potentially lower the enemy’s Special Defense or spamming Hex which doubles it’s damage if the enemy is afflicted by a status condition, like sleep.
9 Koga & Crobat
Koga and Crobat make for one of the fastest Tech pairs in the game which means the Move Gauge is going to top off quickly. It also has a passive that prevents its Speed from being debuffed which is good as that incredible Speed can be raised further with X Speed. Move Like A Shadow! will boost Evasiveness and critical-hit rate.
The key with this pair is to keep the target poisoned with Poison Fang. This is because Its primary Special Attack Venoshock does double damage if the target is poisoned and the brutal Sync Move will do even more damage as well.
8 Crasher Wake & Floatzel
Crasher Wake and Floatzel are a good pair for keeping the enemy pinned down but need Strikers to do most of the damage. The idea is to boost Floatzel with CRASH! and Dire Hit + which will raise Attack, Speed, and critical-hit chance. Ideally Rain should be set up as Floatzel’s move gauge will fill faster, though this isn’t necessary.
Floatzel’s power lies in the passive Aggravation 1 which increases the chance of flinch, confusion, and trapped from occurring with its moves. Water Pulse is a Special Attack move that can cause confusion. But the main move is the Physical Attack Waterfall that can Flinch the opponent.
7 Professor Oak & Mew
Professor Oak and Mew is all about debuffing through attacks. It’s passive Unfortuitous 9 has a chance to lower the enemy’s Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Speed, accuracy, or evasion whenever Mew performs a successful attack. Its other passive Oak’s Research has the interesting ability to replace some of Mew’s moves with other moves every time the Sync Move is performed.
The goal is to buff Mew with A World of Dreams! which can raise Special Attack and then either Attack, Defense, Special Defense, Speed, accuracy or evasion. X Speed will raise Speed and then it’s all about using Psychic to possibly lower the enemy’s Special Defense or Swift because it attacks all opponents and never misses. Then using a Syn Move can shake up things and keep the enemy on their toes.
6 Brock & Onix
Brock and Onix are a Tech, Physical Striker, and tanky Support rolled into one which is great for beginners. Every time a move is performed there’s a chance Onix’s Defense goes up. It can further be boosted with Rock-Hard Determination to raise Attack and Defense. With Potion being used to heal an ally.
Then Onix’s strategy is to spam Rock Tomb to lower the opponent’s Speed before using the Sync Move which does increased damage the more the enemy’s Speed is lowered. This duo really shines when fighting against Speed dependent teams that get dangerous the longer the battle goes.
5 Acerola & Palossand
Acerola and Palossand have the powerful ability to cause a Sandstorm which can mess with the opponent’s efforts. It’s also incredibly useful when paired with Cynthia and Mega Garchomp, a strong Physical Striker pair. Their self-buffs and devastating AOE attack Earthquake receive boosts from a Sandstorm.
Aside from this niche use Palossand acts as a pseudo tank. X Defense raises its Defense and Over Here! causes opponent’s to target it exclusively while healing gradually over time. Then it attacks with Astonish that can cause Flinch and i’s Sync Move becomes more brutal the higher its Defense stat is, which can’t be lowered in a Sandstorm.
4 Will & Xatu
This is a very beginner friendly pair because they perform amazingly on auto-mode. Xatu’s stats cannot be lowered due to a passive. Our Power Is Limitless! is incredibly when facing buffing enemies because Xatu can target an opponent and receive double those stats for itself.
Then the idea is to disrupt the opponent while Xatu is raising its stats with the help of another Tech or Support. Confuse Ray is guaranteed to confuse the opponent which makes the Sync Move more powerful and Air Slash can cause Flinch. Once stats are boosted enough Stored Power becomes the default move because its damage increases the more any stats are raised, on top of the increased Special Attack stat boost.
3 Flannery & Torkoal
Flannery and Torkoal are a bulky Tech pair that do their damage over time through status conditions. Impervious is a nice passive that prevents stats from being lowered. Too Hot to Handle! and X Special Attack will raise Defense, critical hit rate, and Special Attack.
Torkoal is all about the long game by using Will-O-Wisp to inflict Burn. Its Sync Move does incredible damage if the target is burned. Aside from waiting for Burn to do its thing and tank attacks Torkoal can spam Ember which does mediocre damage and has a very small chance of causing Burn. Player’s must be patient to use this powerful duo.
2 Serena & Delphox
Serena and Delphox are all about inflicting chaos through status conditions and debuffs. The Leech 4 passive can cause Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, Speed, accuracy, or evasion to be leeched from the opponent and given to Delphox when it attacks. Go Viral 9 passive is brutal in that it causes a status move to not only inflict a target, but their allies as well.
This means Hypnosis to cause Sleep and Fire Spin to trap a target will cause all targets to suffer the same effect as well. This sets up nicely for Strikers and Delphox’s Sync Move does increased damage if the opponent is sleeping. Overheat is a strong attack that lowers Delphox’s Special Attack which is offset by the gains of the previously mentioned passive or Can’t Stop Us! which raises the stat plus accuracy.
1 Sygna Suit Leaf & Mega Venusaur
Sygna Suit Leaf and Mega Venasaur absolutely need to be paired with poison dealers like Koga and Crobat to do the most damage. Its passive Potent Toxin 2 increases the effect of the poison enemy’s are suffering and the Sync Move to become Mega does even more damage if target is poisoned.
Even without poison Mega Venusaur will lower target’s Defense or Special Defense or both with every successful attack. It can heal ally’s with Potion, deal AOE damage with Razor Leaf that has a higher chance of being critical. But the real power is Mega Healing! during co-op battles because it will reduce the sync move countdown of all allies by two and cause all allies to gradually heal.
