After its release this month, everyone is on their Nintendo Switches playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX. It is a long-awaited remaster since its first version, which came out in 2005. The story is nostalgic to older players, and it’s great that it is being reintroduced to the newer fans!

The game has a ton of items as it did in 2005. But now there are some new ones added! So for players both old and new, here are ten items we suggest you always have on hand when exploring a dungeon.

10 Reviver Seeds

Dying in a dungeon is merciless unless you can revive yourself. If you die in a dungeon, then you lose all the items you collected and you will have to start over on whatever mission you were trying to complete. Reviver seeds are a must in dungeons.

If you recruit others on your journey, their death will results in them not being able to go to a camp. That can really suck. So be sure to take multiple reviver seeds!

9 Gravelrocks

Gravelrocks are very common items to find in dungeons, and they are very useful. Lots of attacks have a different range. If you do not have ranged attacks, gravelrocks are a perfect item for your journey. You throw them and they can be thrown in many different directions.

Our suggestion is to register the item so that you can just chuck them at enemies with the press of a button instead of having to shuffle through your items. By the time an enemy gets to you, their health will likely be very low if you kept throwing rocks at them.

8 Max Ethers

Like in other Pokémon games, you have four moves, and each of them have PP. You can run out of PP way easier in this game than in the main series. After all, there are no Pokémon Centers in these dungeons! You need to take care of yourself.

So, Max Ethers are definitely items you want packed. You ant to keep all your moves’ PP up, especially for type-advantage moves.

7 All Apples

Unlike all other Pokémon games, there is actually a hunger mechanic in the Mystery Dungeon series. Hunger is the silent killer and can easily be forgotten about until you are already deep in the dungeon and its too late for you.

So, always make a number of apples. While other items like berries and seeds can fill your stomach a little, it won’t last long. Apples are the way to go.

6 Wigglytuff Orbs

Camps are what most players save up their money for in these games. Each camp unlocks more Pokémon that can join your team. However, it takes a while and a lot of money to eventually buy all the camps from Wigglytuff.

So, it is a good idea to always have a Wigglytuff Orb when heading out on a mission. That way, if you get a Pokémon that you don’t have a camp for,  you can still have them join your team.

5 Escape Orbs

You cannot just turn back once you have entered a dungeon unless you have an Escape Orb.

This is a great item to have if you realize you forgot an item that is necessary for your mission or if you just really want to leave the dungeon without dying and losing all of your loot. Another reason you may want to escape is in order to definitely keep a recruit you may die or get lost otherwise.

4 One-Shot Orbs

Monster Houses can be both fun and terrifying. Basically, they are a room that is filled with enemies. The worst part is that they fall from the ceiling, so you don’t see them coming until you have already entered the room.

Basically, you need to be prepared for this, and, fortunately, here is an item that is the best solution to a Monster House, and it is the One-Shot Orb. It deals a ton of damage to every enemy in a room. It will very likely defeat anything it hits, as long as it hits! It can miss, but it will definitely thin out the numbers of enemies that you have to deal with. This is important because a Monster House can overwhelm you.

3 Heal Seeds

Why waste your time with items that only cure a specific status? Heal seeds cure any bad status, such as burns, paralysis, poison, confusion, and more. It is a cure-all. Having these on you is a sure way to be prepared for anything. After all, some Pokémon can surprise you with the kind of status-afflicting moves they can have. Sometimes they even use items against you! Heal seeds are the preferable way to keep status afflictions at bay.

2 Pure Seeds

Unless you are grinding for experience, looking for all the loot, or trying to recruit a certain Pokémon, most players immediately seek out the stairs of a dungeon floor.

Pure seeds are an item that, when eaten, warp you near the stairs. This can help if you get stuck in a Monster House and need to escape, or it could just be useful if you are in a hurry. These are best saved for more difficult dungeons that have enormous floor-plans.

1 Currency

A lot of players have a habit of depositing all their money before going out on a rescue mission. This is because they feel like its safer that way. If they die, they won’t lose their money!

However, we think that you should actually keep some money for your rescue missions. This is because there are shops in the dungeons, and they might actually have items that are not available in the town square. You also will not be able to sell items to them, so you either should have money on you or just hope that you can collect enough in the dungeon to afford something.
