The Isle of Armor expansion for Pokémon Sword & Shield will be launching tomorrow, but that’s not the only bit of Pokémon-related news happening on June 17, as a Pokémon Presents livestream is also taking place on the same day.
Pokémon Sword & Shield are receiving new content in the form of the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra DLC packs, which can be accessed through purchasing the Expansion Pass on the Nintendo eShop. Those are the next two mainline Pokémon games that we know about, as there is still no word regarding the rumored Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes or any future entries in the Pokémon: Let’s Go! series.
It seems that The Pokémon Company has more announcements planned regarding the series. A livestream called Pokémon Presents will take place on June 17 at 6:00 AM PDT and it will have news regarding the franchise. The livestream will be taking place on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel.
It’s unclear exactly what will be discussed during the Pokémon Presents stream. It’s likely that the Isle of Armor will be mentioned, seeing as it launches on the same day, and we might also hear about The Crown Tundra DLC, which is due to be released later this year. There is still a lot we don’t know about the two DLC packs and The Pokémon Company might want to capitalize on the hype surrounding the Isle of Armor in order to reveal more about the contents of the Expansion Pass.
It’s possible that the Pokémon Presents livestream is a stand-in for a planned Nintendo Direct, as there have been rumors that Nintendo canned all of its Directs until the end of the year due to COVID-19. It’s possible that we might hear more about the recently delayed Pokémon movie, the Pokémon Journeys: The Series show on Netflix, more Pokémon mobile games, or even future titles for the Nintendo Switch. It could also just be a commercial for the Isle of Armor expansion. We’ll know for sure soon, as Pokémon Presents is taking place tomorrow.
