One of the tougher challenges in the Galar region, Gordie has stolen the attention of players from his first appearance. He has brazen confidence in the body of a regular guy, something that is usually reserved for the leading man. He blends well with his giant Pokémon, being one of the biggest types on average.

His high placement on the potential list is another reason to pay attention to the affable character, with his presence likely to show up in later titles. Despite his harsh self-critique when he loses, Gordie always manages to pull through and reattain that flagrant belief in himself.

10 A Sillier Side

While Gordie likes to portray himself as a winner in every situation, hence his tendency to disappear if he’s defeated, the goofier side of the character rears its head from time to time. In spite of already reaching the rank of gym leader, he is still considered one of the Galar regions up-and-coming trainers, and his lovable optimism shines through.

Nikkoleon’s thick lines and cartoonish style lets the warm personality bleed into the piece, taking away all the up and coming bravado that usually follows the character around. At the end of the day, Gordie is just a positive trainer with a lot of skills and a charming grin.

9 Type Transformation

Gordie already takes a departure from the usually bland colours that Rock trainers typically wear. Though his style is already unique, seeing him in different type outfits is something the fans need to see. From Dark to Fairy, it never takes more than a glance to recognize that ever-present smile.

In all of the 4 forms Pikaplusmin shows, both the outfit choice and pose are a great match to the type portrayal. It does not stray too far from Gordie’s personality while being unique enough to show the contrast.

8 Sizeable Charm

Gordie displays a unique combination of pulling off a somewhat cool demeanor while rocking his unique styles. Gordie’s impressive accessories definitely help complement the surface confidence he always puts forward.

Inesanemona has given fans a great wallpaper for the Rock-type fanboys out there, showing great detail and still retaining the animated quality to his design, down to the glare off of his trademark shades. The shading and texture really make the piece pop.

7 The Large Leaders

Fans have brought together the bromance between the two Galar region gym leaders and ran with it. Other than the fact it’s a duo nobody would want to get on the wrong side of, they have both become fan favorites since their debut.

Starcre8tor has shown both of the loveable leaders in their best light. Milo being the brawny optimist who’s never shy of a smile while Gordie’s exuberant confidence is on display, complete with a proud grin.

6 Solid Charm

It looks like Gordie has been hitting the treadmill in Littlehypno’s piece, granting the character a favourable light. While his heavier frame is part of the charm, there’s no lack of attitude here. He is even balancing a Pokéball on one finger, a universal sign of swagger.

Both his expectant eyebrows and his peculiar smirk pull players in, likely as a way to distract them so he can use his Pokémon to deliver some fatal blows on the opposing team.

5 Support Squad

The Pokémon series has certainly gotten a lot warmer over the years, taking a step back from the subtle dark side of the first generation. Even now, though, it’s rare that we see gym leaders supporting each other. Usually, their competition to be the best trainer distracts from group camaraderie.

Chilica’s piece takes us to a less ruthless time, with the Galar squad teaming up to brighten Allister’s day. The bright use of colour and cheerful expression lends to the mood of the picture. Putting a more collaborative spin on the League injects some glee into the opposing scene.

4 Shuckle Appears

King of cool, Goldie’s swagger has made it into the modern style. Being one of the only pieces that feature an actual Pokémon, the unique type combination turtle is definitely the cutest in his roster. Accenting the moody demeanor, any of the other Pokémon in his squad would have been too much of the same.

Airfreshenerfuture has put brought Gordie into a much more recognizable world. Looking like he’s posing for GQ (besides the Shuckle) even Gordie’s overblown necklace has been downsized to something more realistic.

3 A Feminine Side

As flattering as any piece out there, Peachydixie definitely sees the Rock-type leader through rose-colored glasses. That, or they happen to be particularly talented at revamping.

Everything from the lighting down to subtle details in the eyes, the vibe of the character has completely changed. It even takes a second glance to realize who it is. Most times this would be a shark jump but it’s so well executed that it’s a must-see for fans.

2 Back To The Old School

Throwing it back to the good old days, this piece looks like it could be in any high-end comic of the ’90s. A fitting change for a series that’s genesis came in that decade, Siins has transported Gordie back to Generation I.

While his attitude is a far throw from the more serious tone laid out in the original games, his look certainly fits the bill. For such a colorful character in his original form, Gordie’s black and white version still illustrates that devious charm.

1 Behind The Scenes

Shuckle is the surprising star in most of Gordie’s fan art, despite Coalossal being the powerhouse of the roster. Then again, it’s hard to demonstrate a relaxing mood when there’s a 9-foot mountain of rock hanging around. Shuckle’s endearingly dull expression might be the most downplayed in the series.

Everyone need’s a little downtime, even gym leaders. D4gm4rs gives us a glance behind the curtain, a constant smirk begins to ache if you don’t have some regular rest and relaxation. Gordie is probably just getting a little late-night studying in of the Pokédex before the next battle.
