Oleana is one of the most prominent villains in Pokémon Sword and Shield but players don’t know much about her because although she was a large part of the end of the game she wasn’t front and center for most of it. She has a bunch of interesting Pokémon as well which is another reason that she is so fascinating.
There are lots of little facts about her that players missed while playing through the game for the first time and this list will cover a few of them. Fans should learn some new tidbits from this list. From her life before Chairman Rose to the origin of her name, here are 10 things that fans didn’t know about Oleana!
10 Unlike The Other Villains, She Doesn’t Use Steel-Types
Most of the villains in the games prefer using Pokémon of the Steel variety probably because of their tough durability and powerful attacks. Oleana is different than them because she uses Pokémon of every type on her team.
Her party actually happens to be one of the most diverse in the game which is somewhat bizarre because of the organization she works for. If Sword and Shield get a sequel maybe she’ll end up using more Steel-Types but only time will tell. She’ll never stop battling with her Milotic though because she loves it for sure!
9 She Enjoys Makeup And Is Skilled With It
There is no shortage of girls in the Pokémon world that wear makeup but Oleana happens to wear almost the most of it in the entire game. She seems to especially like nail polish and lipstick,|
evident by her appearance.
She definitely has a good sense when it comes to how to look her best for other people and her makeup skills prove this fact. Fans enjoyed being able to take in her unique style and hopefully, her beautiful appearance will remain the same in future anime and games.
8 She Has An Incredible Temper
Oleana isn’t known for being the quiet type but many fans may not have realized how psychotic she actually is. She is seen getting angry by tiny annoyances and most characters wouldn’t be so bothered.
It’s rare that characters in the Pokémon games get as angry as she does and this is probably because it is a kids game in part. It was easy to miss how psychotic she acted at different points in the game if players weren’t paying attention. Maybe after the events of the game, she’ll calm down a bit. Fans will be interested to see what happens.
7 Her Garbodor Can Giagantamax
Most NPCs in Sword and Shield don’t have Pokémon that can Giagantamax which is why this fact deserves a spot. It’s easy to miss that her Garbordor isn’t just normally Dynamaxing because it has a similar appearance to its normal form.
Players enjoyed getting to battle an extra-strong Pokémon but it was shocking that she actually had a Gigantamax Pokémon in the first place. It will probably make a reappearance for players to battle again in the DLC.
6 Her Name Originates From An Olive
Pokémon characters in both anime and video games usually have names that are based on different kinds of plants. Oleana has a peculiar name that is especially interesting because of where it originates.
Her name has an origin of olives, which is actually kind of funny because it’s such a bizarre choice for the developers to choose. Even though it’s weird its very memorable once players learn about this obscure and comical fact.
5 She Is An Extremely Intelligent Character
Although she has a bad temper, when she happens to be in a calm mood she is very focused and intelligent. Her brilliance has given so much to the Pokémon world and it would give even more if she didn’t put it to evil use.
Her evil team status is unfortunate because she is wasting her smart brain on bad motivations. At least her heart was in the right place but hopefully moving forward she will be a better person.
4 She Lived In Poverty For The Majority Of Her Life
Oleana wasn’t always the secretary of Rose. She was once extremely poor and this is how she has been for most of her life. Rose gave her a job and helped pull her out of her unfortunate conditions.
Oleana has really risen out of where she came from and she gives hope to other characters in similar conditions as children. She’ll be an inspiration for the Pokémon universe as a character that has really moved up in the world quickly.
3 She Is The Vice President Of Macro Cosmos
Oleana is the vice president of the evil team and unlike Rose, it was less surprising to find this out because she always seemed a little mean towards others. At least the main reason she is bad is that she was following Rose.
It’s evident in the games that she believes in her mission and although it is bad she could definitely turn herself around following the game’s main plot. Hopefully, she will do so in the DLC. It was shocking to see her as the vice president of an organization and its easy to miss because it is only brought up a few times.
2 She Cares About Chairman Rose A Lot
It’s obvious in the games that she is loyal to Rose but it’s less obvious that she cares emotionally for him. There are a few hints throughout the game that they may be emotionally attached and some of this has to do with how Rose has helped her throughout her life.
There is one outright moment where she pleads with the player to save him but a lot of players thought that she wasn’t being completely sincere. She has a deep emotional connection to Chairman Rose and players that didn’t pay as much attention to the story never realized how deep it goes.
1 She Is One Of The Tallest Women In The Pokemon World
There are a few notable women in the Pokémon anime and games that are very tall but Oleana takes the cake in Sword and Shield. She is 5'11 and that is much taller than most other characters in the game.
It’s hard to tell that she is this tall in-game because the camera is positioned weirdly at times but she is indeed really tall. Oleana is one of the tallest women in the Pokémon world and because many fans don’t realize that she is 5'11 it deserves the highest spot on this list!
