Pokémon Sun & Moon introduced the Rotom Dex, a Pokédex that had been inhabited by a Rotom. In Pokémon Sword & Shield, Rotom have once again taken over other devices. The PC has been a part of Pokémon games since Generation I. However, in Pokémon Sword & Shield (Generation VIII), Rotom have replaced the PC. This new form is called a Rotomi. These machines can be found throughout the Galar regions, specifically in all Pokémon Centers, between the nurse’s counter and the counter with an Indeedee behind it.

With Rotomi came new features for fans to enjoy throughout their Sword & Shield playthroughs. Here are ten things about the Rotom PC that players might not know about.

10 The Loto-ID

The Rotom PC allows players to try their luck once a day. Every day they play the Loto-ID, the game will generate a five-digit number. Depending on how many digits match their Pokémon ID numbers, they will receive an award.

One-digit and two-digit rewards are the most common, awarding players with Moomoo Milk and PP Up. However, if they’re lucky they can earn PP Max, Rare Candy, or even a Masterball! This mini-game is quick and easy, it only takes about a minute to complete.

9 The Card Maker

Pokémon Sword & Shield added the ability to create League Cards. It also allows players to receive cards from NPCs and share or trade cards with friends. It’s a fun addition to the game that lets players express their personality to others in random trades or random battles.

By accessing the Rotom PC, players can create a new League Card whenever they feel like it. Or, if they just want to modify their League Card after changing their make-up, hair, or outfit, there’s an option that automatically updates the player’s current League Card.

8 Gain Experience Points And Rewards

Similar to Poké Pelago in Pokémon Sun & Moon, Pokémon Sword & Shield’s Poké Jobs system offers players a way to passively earn experience points and other rewards. This is one of the most useful features that the Rotom PC has to offer.

Players can send their Pokémon on missions. The type of rewards and the amount of EXP earned depends on the mission’s star rating and the type of Pokémon players send on these missions. The chance of getting rewards increases if the player sends more Pokémon.

7 EV Training

For competitive players, EV (Effort Values) training is a very important part of Pokémon. And once the 4th Gym Badge is obtained, the player gets access to Hammerlocke University seminars.

EV seminars are available at all times and can be found on the Rotom PC, on the Poké Jobs page. The player can send up to ten Pokémon at a time and each will earn 4 EVs an hour. If the Pokémon has Pokérus and if it has a Power Item equipped they can easily and quickly max out the desired stat.

6 Box Customization

The Rotom PC has customization features that often go unnoticed. When accessing the Pokémon boxes, it is easy to label each box with a title and customize their wallpapers. This way, players can effortlessly navigate through them without feeling lost.

It is possible to rename every single box and there are also 19 different wallpapers to choose from. Players can do this by selecting the box title, choosing the option “Change its name” or “Change its wallpaper.” Then they can customize and organize them however they prefer.

5 Organization Options

Rotomi has a lot of features and it can get quite confusing, especially for a player who hasn’t played many Pokémon games before. Going through Pokémon boxes and trying to organize them can be an overwhelming mess. Fortunately, the Rotom PC has more organization options than meets the eye. These options are there to simplify the organization process when the player has a lot of stored Pokémon.

It’s possible to change the selection mode by select, multi-select, and multipurpose. And it’s also possible to change the box view from “sort Pokémon,” to “check held items,” and “check battle teams.”

4 Check And Give Ribbons

Ribbons have been around since Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. Their purpose is to show off a Pokémon’s achievements. Pokémon can be awarded Ribbons for various things, such as becoming Champion, for reaching max happiness, or even for having max EVs.

Gamers can award their Pokémon Ribbons by using the Rotom PC. They should choose a Pokémon that has been awarded a Ribbon, then select “Check summary.” Then, by pressing the R-button, access the Ribbon tab. Here they can freely give and remove Ribbons. If a Pokémon is given a Ribbon, whenever it comes into battle, a special tagline will appear after its name.

3 Create Teams

Once the main story in Pokémon Sword & Shield is complete, players gain access to the Battle Tower, where they can play to win BP (Battle Points). However, using Party Pokémon might not always be the best strategy when it comes to making it through the Battle Tower. Plus, there are different types of battles there, such as single and double battles.

Creating specific teams for the Tower is a good way to save the fans some time. They’ll always be saved as a preset and they get to keep their party’s Pokémon. Players can have up to 6 teams and they can create them on their Rotom PCs.

2 Check Pokémon IVs

Individual Values (IVs) are crucial when it comes to building the perfect team. A player might want a Pikachu with 31 Speed IVs or a Snorlax with 0 Speed IVs. It all depends on the Pokémon, the player, and the strategy.

After completing the main story, winning five battles, and defeating Leon at the Battle Tower, the judge feature will be unlocked. This will allow players to check their Pokémon’s IVs on the Rotom PC by selecting a Pokémon and pressing the “+” button. This is one of the most useful features of the Rotom PC.

1 Pokémon Markings

An easy way to keep track of a Pokémon’s max IVs is by taking advantage of the Pokémon Markings feature. If after using the IV checker, the Pokémon has the ideal IVs in a given stat (or more), the player should give a Marking to the Pokémon. This way, they don’t have to keep checking its IVs.

Fans can very easily do this by using the Rotom PC, selecting the Pokémon, and then clicking the “change markings” option. Then they can freely choose from a small selection of symbols that will pop up on the screen.
