There are quite a few Pokémon you can find in the Wild Area of Pokémon Sword & Shield when it’s clear weather. It’s not readily obvious which Pokémon can be found during Clear Weather and the game doesn’t make it easy to determine which will appear.
Clear Weather occurs between March 15th and September 15th with the Isle of Armor DLC. Here’s a list for those players wanting to know which Pokémon are exclusively found in the Wild Area under sunny cloudless skies.
9 Bellossom
Bellossom is a pure Grass-type that can be found in the Giant’s Mirror part of the Wild Area. For PVP purposes Bellossom can sometimes function as a sweeper and is used as a healer thanks to the innate ability to sometimes cure an ally’s status condition each turn. Unfortunately, mediocre stats mean it requires a lot of boosting.
For PVE purposes it’ll serve the player’s needs and can be a decent Pokémon until something better is found. Otherwise, this is one for finishing out the Pokédex or those players who like it for appearances.
8 Vespiquen
Vespiquen will only make an appearance during Clear Weather and can be found in the Rolling Fields. From a PVP perspective, this Pokémon is mostly a liability thanks to its Bug/Flying typing. Heavy Boots will negate Stealth Rock but it’ll still be weak against Fire, Ice, Flying, Electric, and have a four times vulnerability to Rock.
Even in PVE battles, this Pokémon will struggle, though it can have uses against Grass-type Pokémon who are vulnerable to both Bug and Flying attacks. Otherwise, this Pokémon is a roster-filler or for Bug fans.
7 Munchlax
During Clear Weather, players can find Munchlax wandering around the Motostoke Riverbank. It’s a rare find, however, with a 5% appearance rate. In PVP it makes for a decent wall thanks to incredibly high HP and a solid Special Defense stat. Because of an atrocious Speed stat and lack of decent recovery, Munchlax will often be a sacrificial wall.
For PVE Munchlax is a decent enough fighter and when evolved to Snorlax will serve the player well. Just expect the fights to be long and drawn out as Munchlax will struggle to connect hits and the opponent will struggle to whittle Munchlax’s health down.
6 Lucario
Lucario can be found wandering around the North Lake Miloch zone in the Wild Area during Clear Weather. This is absolutely a Pokémon you want to pick up for both PVP and PVE purposes. In PVP it makes for a fantastic wallbreaker.
It has a Fighting-/Steel-typing for great coverage, high attack high special attack, and high speed. Because of the Fighting-typing, it can also pick up moves like Ice Punch or Thunder Punch to protect it from potential checks like Flygon. It’s an adaptive and well-rounded Pokémon that will serve the player well in a variety of fights.
5 Leafeon
When the weather is Clear Leafon can be found wandering around Lake of Outrage. In fights, Leafeon is very much a glass cannon wallbreaker. It has good Attack, Defense, and Speed stats, but its Grass-typing makes it vulnerable to common PVP threats like Ice and Flying. Careful switching and appropriate matchups will see Leafeon shine, but this might be too much micromanagement for some.
It’s a great Pokémon for PVE and will serve the player well. At the very least players should consider catching one so they can evolve their Eevee’s into something else and fill out their roster that much faster.
4 Stoutland
Stoutland is able to be found in the Wild Area as a result of the Isle of Armor DLC. They are found exclusively in Clear Weather in the new Training Lowlands zone of the Wild Area. Stoutland has a solid range of stats and Normal-typing making is a useful wallbreaker.
It’ll certainly have issues against Fighting-, Steel-, and Rock-types, but it’ll handle just about everything else. Revenge kills will be a problem here and there for trainers who aren’t careful. In PVE this is a great Pokémon.
3 Mienshao
Mienshao is another Pokémon that can be caught in the Wild area thanks to the Isle Of Armor DLC. This one is found in the new Challenge Road area. Mienshao is a mischievous fighter to have in PVP teams and can be very effective if used correctly.
Thanks to its Regenerator ability it recovers one-third of its health when switched out of battle. It also has access to moves Fake Out and U-Turn. A common strategy is to switch into battle, use the first turn to Flinch the opponent with Fake Out, hit it with other moves like High Jump Kick, wait until Mienshao’s health dips down by a third, and use U-Turn to quickly switch out recovering that health. Just watch out for Fairy-, Flying-, and Psychic-types.
2 Steenee
Steenee is found in Clear Weather in the Axew’s Eye part of the Wild Area. It has a 10% appearance rate so it might take a while to find one. From a competitive standpoint, Steenee is not very good. Its stats are low across the board and it is very vulnerable to a variety of attacks thanks to its Grass-typing.
In PVE it can see some use with interesting moves like Aromatherapy that cures the entire party of status conditions. Helping Hand can boost an adjacent ally’s attack and Toxic can be handy at times. Honestly, it’s better to evolve it and move on.
1 Gossifleur
The last Pokémon that can be found exclusively during Clear Weather in the Wild Area is Gossifleur. It has a 25% appearance rate along the Motostoke Riverbank making it an easy enough Pokémon to pick up for the collection.
This Pokémon is not a good fighter in either PVP or PVE scenarios. Its stats are awful causing it to die long before it can use any of its useful moves like Giga Drain or Sleep Powder. It does have the Regenerator ability but with such an abysmal speed stat it just delays the inevitable. Don’t give up on this one though as its evolved form Eldegoss is a lot more useful making it worth the capture.
