Pokémon Sword & Shield’s Isle of Armor DLC opened the borders of Galar just a little. Now a new batch of Pokémon, around 100, have permission to enter Generation VIII. Many are walking around the new and improved Wild Area, but there are also some hidden gems. In TheGamer’s Pokédex guide series, we chronicle all the Pokémon and where to find them.
Slowpoke is a fan favorite Pokémon, and a pretty good contender when it evolves into either Slowbro or Slowking. Both evolved forms have high defensive power and the ability to heal with their Hidden Ability. This changes when Slowpoke takes on its new Galarian form. When that happens, it can evolves into a gun-toting version of Slowbro that specializes in attacking and using poison.
Where To Find Galarian Slowpoke
Everyone can get a free Galarian Slowpoke just for visiting Wedgehurst Station. If you haven’t been to the station, back in the first town, in some time, go back to trigger a cutscene. Then you’ll encounter a Galarian Slowpoke and get the opportunity to catch it. If you knocked it out, or just want to hunt for more, check the Isle of Armor’s Fields of Honor. Galarian Slowpoke should be all over the beaches there.
How To Evolve Galarian Slowpoke Into Galarian Slowbro
Galarian Slowpoke will evolve into Galarian Slowbro when you give it a Galarica Cuff. To get the cuff, pick up eight Galarica Twigs off the ground in the Isle of Armor. Give them to a female NPC stationed on the Workout Sea. She’ll use the twigs to make a cuff.
Galarian Slowking
Galarian Slowpoke can only evolve into Galarian Slowbro at this time. When the Crown Tundra DLC releases later this year, Galarian Slowking will be revealed and there will probably be another unique item needed to evolve it. Check back to learn the details.
What Galarian Slowbro Does In Battle
Galarian Slowbro is the only member of the Slow family to specialize in Attack. It also has the unique Ability Quick Draw, which gives it a chance to go first when it uses a damaging move. This points to a straightforward, aggressive build.
Psychic is still an essential attack, and Sludge Wave makes for a good Poison-type move. Focus Blast is great for countering the Dark-types and Steel-types Galarian Slowbro is weak to. Finally, Grass Knot or Earthquake can beat Ground-types.
