Pokémon Sword & Shield’s Isle of Armor DLC opened the borders of Galar just a little. Now a new batch of Pokémon, around 100, have permission to enter Generation VIII. Many are walking around the new and improved Wild Area, but there are also some hidden gems. In TheGamer’s Pokédex guide series, we chronicle all the Pokémon and where to find them.

Druddigon is somewhat unqiue in the Pokémon world in that it’s actually a normal dragon. The Dragon-type is filled with all sorts of Pokémon that don’t have wings or long, twisting bodies. Think Kingdra the “sea dragon” or Alolan Exeggcutor, a literal palm tree. But Druddigon? Now here’s an actual winged reptilian monster.

Where To Find Druddigon

First, there’s the usual disclaimer: Druddigon is only available for capture on the DLC Isle of Armor. If you refuse to buy the DLC, you’ll have to get a friend who does have it to trade you a Druddigon. Or use Pokémon HOME to transfer a Druddigon from an older game.

DLC owners can find Druddigon in Brawlers’ Cave and Courageous Cavern, hidden away like a true dragon. It can also sometimes be found in Max Rad battles in Loop Lagoon, Workout Sea, and Honeycalm Sea.

Evolution And What Druddigon Does In Battle

Druddigon does not evolve or achieve a special Gigantamax form. It’s a dragon with a red head and it will stay that way (unless you have a shiny).

Using Druddigon in battle is simply a matter of taking advantage of its high Attack stat. It’s a prime candidate for moves like Outrage, Dragon Tail, and Earthquake. It can also use moves like Iron Head or Fire Punch to beat back the Fairy-types it’s weak too.

Surprisingly, Druddigon can learn Stealth Rock, a popular setup move in competitive play. Combine this with its Rough Skin Ability, and Druddigon can be a good starting Pokémon. Toxic is another good move to round out this role, giving you the chance to poison a foe that Druddigon is ill-suited to defeat outright.
