Can we take a moment to appreciate the biology of the Bonsly? According to the Sword & Shield Pokédex, Bonsly “expels both sweat and tears from its eyes. The sweat is a little salty, while the tears have a slight bitterness.”

So this little rock that’s shaped like a bonsai is crying all the time, but not because it’s sad. It’s just sweating. Which is in no way an improvement.

Anyway, here’s where you catch a Bonsly in Sword & Shield.

Where To Catch Bonsly And Sudowoodo

Bonsly can be found in Bridge Field and Stony Wilderness during sandstorms in both Sword and Shield. You’ve got a pretty good chance of finding one so long as there’s sand flying all over the place, so keep an eye out for sandstorms.

Sudowoodo can be found in a variety of weather conditions in Bridge Field, Dusty Bowl, Giant’s Mirror, Hammerlocke Hills, Motostoke Outskirts, and Motostoke Riverbank. However, Hammerlocke Hills during a sandstorm or intense sunlight is your best bet.

You can also find Bonsly in Max Raid Battles in Giant’s Seat, Rolling Fields, and Stony Wilderness, while Sudowoodo’s Max Raid Battles will only happen in Rolling Fields and Stony Wilderness.

How To Evolve Bonsly Into Sudowoodo

Unlike most Pokémon, Bonsly will only evolve into Sudowoodo once it levels up after learning the move Mimic. Since Bonsly can learn Mimic on its own at level 16, this means you can evolve it into Sudowoodo then.

What Sudowoodo Can Do In Battle

On the surface, Sudowoodo seems like a gimmick Pokémon that doesn’t have a lot to offer in a fight, but this couldn’t be any further from the truth. Appearances are deceiving for Sudowoodo in more ways than one.

With Rock Head as an ability, Sudowoodo can use both Head Smash and Wood Hammer without fear of recoil damage, giving it access to some extremely powerful attacks. Sucker Punch and Earthquake are also phenomenal moves, with Sucker Punch getting around Sudowoodo’s abysmal Speed, while Earthquake provides fantastic coverage.
