Oh, Goldeen. Remember when you were THE fish-type Pokémon way back in the days of Red & Blue? You were famous for being on Misty’s team in the anime. And then after you evolved, you were known for being a profanity-laden meme. Now here we are in Sword & Shield, a shadow of your former glory.
Goldeen and Seaking might not be the most powerful Water-types anymore, but they’ll always have a special place in the Pokémon mythos. Here’s where you can get your very own Goldeen and evolve it into Seaking.
Where To Find Goldeen & Seaking
As both Goldeen and Seaking are fish, you’ll only find them in bodies of water. For Goldeen, look in Route 4, Route 5, Route 6, Bridge Field, East Lake Axewell, Giant’s Cap, North Lake Miloch, South Lake Miloch, and West Lake Axewell. Seaking can also be found in at Bridge Field, Lake of Outrage, North Lake Miloch, and West Lake Axewell.
Like most Water-types, Goldeen and Seaking have a better chance of spawning when its overcast, raining, or during a thunderstorm.
How To Evolve Goldeen Into Seaking
No Water Stone required here. Just get Goldeen to level 33 and it’ll evolve into Seaking.
What Seaking Can Do In Battle
Seaking has decent Attack, but poor Speed. For this reason, it’s best to pair a Swift Swim Seaking with a Pokémon that causes Rain at the start of battle such as Politoed or Pelipper, or a Pokémon that knows Rain Dance.
Waterfall is your best STAB physical attack move, while Megahorn is a good option secondary move even if you don’t get the same-type bonus damage. Drill Run can be learned for even greater coverage.
