Looking to catch Lotad in Pokémon Sword & Shield? This guide will help you do just that! Unless you have Pokémon Sword. Then you cannot do just that.
Yup, that’s right, Lotad is a Pokémon Shield exclusive Pokémon. If you do have Shield, there are many different places that you’re going to be able to catch it. Maybe put one on the GTS for those poor Sword players who want a terrifying dancing maraca man, do ’em a favor.
Where To Find Lotad
Almost all of Lotad’s spawns are going to be non-overworld, with its sole overworld spawn being at West Lake Axwell in the Wild Area, where it has a 60% encounter rate in cloudy weather. Other than that, you’re going to have to hunt around a bit for Lotad. That still isn’t a problem, however, as it can be found at 20% on Route 2 in all weather, and as for the Wild Area, Rolling Fields at 40% during rain, and Dappled Grove under virtually every weather condition ranging from 20%-40%. Lombre and Ludicolo don’t spawn at all, but that really isn’t a problem considering how easy Lotad is to find. Route 2 or West Lake Axwell are likely going to be the easiest places to find it, however.
How To Evolve Lotad Into Ludicolo
Lotad evolves into Lombre at level 14 and into Ludicolo when exposed to a Water Stone, making for quite the easy journey for a fully-evolved Pokémon. Unfortunately, Ludicolo does not have access to any form of Gigantamaxing, but that’s okay because not even that could save this thing from its pitiful stats.
What Ludicolo Does In Battle
Still, Water/Grass is a fun type convo, and Ludicolo is overall a very animated Pokémon, so there’s no harm in using it. If you do choose to go down this road, it’s going to benefit most from moves like Muddy Water or Hydro Pump for STAB, and something like Ice Beam for type coverage. Maybe even a Rain Dance if you’re feeling a lil frisky? If you’re planning on taking Ludicolo to the Pokémon League, however, you probably already have a strategy cooked up for it at this point.
