Munchlax and Snorlax are great additions to any Pokémon team. Here’s how you can get one in Pokémon Sword & Shield.
Trivia time! Did you know that Munchlax isn’t all flab? It’s got an extra-long fur coat that it can use to store food, sort of like a big bushy beard on a human male (or female - we don’t judge here). Only after it evolves into Snorlax does Munchlax lose some of that fur in favor of enormous bulk.
Munchlax is also borderline hyperactive, like a chubby squirrel in desperate search of food for the coming winter. Of course, if you’re training Munchlax, you’ll need to feed it a lot to keep it happy as they basically are never full.
Where To Find Munchlax And Snorlax
Munchlax is tough to find in Sword or Shield. It can only be found at Motostoke Riverbank and it has a spawn rate of just 5% during normal weather. You’ll be spending a lot of time searching for this one.
Snorlax is pretty much the same, only appearing at Motostoke Riverbank during normal weather. Again, spawn rates are extremely rare, so prepare to spend some time here.
On the plus side, you can find Gigantamax Snorlax in Max Raid Battles in multiple locations, including Bridge Field, East Lake Axewell, Motostoke Riverbank, Rolling Fields, and Stony Wilderness.
How To Evolve Munchlax Into Snorlax
To get Munchlax to evolve, it’s gotta like you. That means getting its friendship level over 220 and then leveling up. As with any Pokémon, getting it to like you usually means playing them at camp, feeding them, and using them in battle. You can also increase friendship faster by making them hold a Soothe Bell or capturing them in a Friend or Luxury Ball.
What Snorlax Can Do In Battle
As you probably could have guessed, Snorlax has a lot of HP, but it also has a surprisingly high Attack stat. It also has a Gigantamax form that can really boost Snorlax’s potency in battle.
Snorlax is an ideal Rest/Sleep Talk user, which will keep it healthy and offensive even while asleep. Pair that with some hard-hitting moves like Hammer Arm, Body Slam, or Earthquake to take advantage of Snorlax’s high Attack stat.
Gigantamax Snorlax learns G-Max Replenish, a move that will restore consumed berries for your entire team. Remember to stock up on berries whenever Snorlax is in your party!
