Pokémon has an abundance of cute ‘mons, which means that some end up being ignored over the usual fan favorites. Introduced back in Gen V, Petilil is one of these Pokémon, being overshadowed by other new additions like Lillipup. The introduction of the Isle of Armor DLC in Pokémon Sword & Shield has given many Pokémon from previous generations a second chance, including the diminutive grass type Petilil.

Where to Find Petilil

Without access to the Isle of Armor, your only options are to transfer Petilil from a previous generation using Pokémon HOME, or trade with someone who already has the DLC.

If you have access to the Isle of Armor, Petilil can be found in Honeycalm Island, either  wandering around in the overworld or through random encounters. Weather has no effect on how likely they are to appear, so if you stick around long enough Petilil is sure to appear.

Petilil’s evolution Lilligant meanwhile can be found in a multitude of locations. In the Soothing Wetlands, Challenge Beach and Training Lowlands, Lilligant can only be found during intense sun. On Honeycalm Island, it can show up in all weather other than fog, thunderstorms and rain.

It’s also possible to find Petilil and Lilligant in Max Raid Battles at the Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands, Training Lowlands and Insular Sea.

How to Evolve Petitil Into Lilligant

Evolving Petilil is a simple enough process, only requiring a Sun Stone. Sun Stones can be found in the base game’s Wild Area, at both the Lake of Outrage and the Dusty Bowl. Use a Sun Stone on Petilil and you’ll get a freshly evolved Lilligant in return.

How to Use Lilligant

Lilligant hasn’t changed much since their introduction in Gen V. As a grass type Pokémon, it’s tied with rock types as having the most weaknesses in the game. It is most effective during double battles, due to it’s usefulness for support moves.

Due to Lilligant’s high special attack, you’ll probably want to stick with special moves to deal decent damage. Leaf Storm is a strong choice, being the strongest grass type special moves available to Lilligant. Hidden Power can also be used to cover for type weaknesses.

This leaves the other slots for support moves. Sleep Powder and protect are good ways to stall a fight, and After You can be used to speed up slower Pokémon.
