Pumpkaboo is a dual grass and ghost-type Pokémon with an eerie predilection of fairing human souls to the afterlife.  It boasts surprising stats for its typing, and upon evolution, stands to hold its own in battle. Here’s the low down on this floral occultist in Sword & Shield.

Harvesting Pumpkaboo

Pumpkaboo is rather sparse across Galar. It can be found in all weather conditions along Route 4 and several forecasts within the Wild Area. However, the best chances of finding this Pokémon are under normal weather conditions within Giant’s Mirror or during thunderstorms throughout Hammerlocke Hills.

Pumpkaboo comes in four size variations. Eerie flavor text explains the small, large, and supersize variants correlate with the number of souls in their habitat along with the types of souls the Pumpkaboo preferred.

Beware of Gourgeist

Pumpkaboo evolves into Gourgeist only by trade, but beware! Its evolution is much more malicious. No longer satisfied with the souls of the dead, Gourgeist will take any soul it can ensnare off to the afterlife.

For trainers looking to breed, this ghoulish Pokémon’s aforementioned size proportions will also be passed down to its descendants.

Terrifying Moves

Phantom Force is Gourgeist’s most reliable move, causing it to vanish then reappear next turn, striking unprepared and protected foes alike. Seed Bomb’s a close second and makes the Pokémon a true double-edged sword. Comparatively, Gourgeist’s speed stat isn’t phenomenal, so utilizing moves like Shadow Sneak allows it to strike first without fail.
