Roggenrola’s a sturdy rock-type Pokémon with an attack power that rivals its rock-hard defense. This Pokémon’s only real downfall is its sedentary speed stats, which are in keeping with its mineral makeup.
That being said, Roggenrola’s final evolution, Gigalith, makes a solid addition to a Sword & Shield team. Read on to learn how it may rise above its shortcomings.
Finding and Evolving Roggenrola
Roggenrola is sort of the counterpart to Timburr spawns as the rock Pokémon is more common within the Galar Mines of Shield while the fighting-type frequents the mines in Sword. Roggenrola is more common overall, though, spawning in additional regions throughout the Wild Area. The best chance of encountering one in either version is in the Rolling Fields during a bout of intense sun, sandstorms, or overcast weather.
Roggenrola evolves into Boldore at level 25. But akin to Pokémon like Machop, its final evolution into Gigalith is only possible through trade.
Playing to Rock-type Strengths
Rock Tomb is a strategic move to combat this evolution chain’s speed deficiency as it also lowers the target’s speed stat, leveling the playing field. Bulldoze is another move that can aid in this respect with the bonus of addressing the Pokémon’s steel-type weakness.
Given its rock-type, this evolution chain has several weaknesses. So stacking its move-set with preventative or debuffing moves such as Sandstorm, Sand Tomb, or Protect can come in handy. Also, Rockslide plays to this Pokémon’s strength while possibly hindering its opponent further by causing them to flinch.
