Shellos is a water Pokémon with two unique forms dependent on its native habitat. Blue Shellos hail from the East Sea, while the pink variation resides in the West Sea. When this little sea slug evolves into Gastrodon, it can hold its own in battle. Here’s how to get one in Sword & Shield.
Finding Shellos
West Sea Shellos are only available through outside transfer from Pokémon Home, but East Sea Shellos are attainable locally in the Galar region. They are most abundant around the Giant’s Mirror region of the Wild Area, specifically by surfing during normal weather, intense sun, thunderstorms, or sandstorms.
While Giant’s Mirror provides the most common Shellos sightings, it can also be randomly encountered throughout Bridge Field, Giant’s Cap, Motostoke Riverbank, and the Stony Fields, along with Galar Mine No. 2.
Evolution & Battle Recomendations
Once caught, Shellos automatically evolves into Gastrodon at level 30. Upon evolution, it becomes a dual water-ground type, so be mindful of its double grass aversion when preparing for battle.
Gastrodon’s strengths lie with its HP and special attack stat. Moves like Earth Power and Muddy Water are heavy hitters that may cause the target additional debuffs. Water Pulse is another reliable move that has the chance of causing confusion as well, or Ancient Power allows Gastrodon to land hits while simultaneously buffing its stats.
