There’s a new squirrel Pokémon in town and it’s… something. Skwovet has proven to be one of the least popular Pokémon of the eighth generation, that is to say those Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Sword & Shield. It takes on the role of the traditional Route 1 critter, but does so with a certain… Disney flair. Not that there’s anything wrong with Disney animation. It’s just that Skwovet and its evolution Greedent stick out like sore thumbs in the more Japanese-influenced Pokémon style.
Still, the squirrels are part of the Pokédex. Any trainer looking to catch ’em all in Galar will have to get a Skwovet at some point. Here’s how to do it.
How To Find Skwovet In Pokémon Sword & Shield
If you’ve played Pokémon Sword & Shield for even just a few hours, you’ve probably seen many Skwovet running around. But if you’re hunting for shinies or Pokémon with high IVs, you might a refresher on where to find Skwovet. You can find one at Route 1, Route 2, Route 3, Route 4, Route 5, Dappled Grove, Motostoke Riverbank, North Lake Miloch, Rolling Fields, Slumbering Weald, and Watchtower Ruins. They can be running around, in the tall grass, and can be shaken out of a berry tree.
If you’d rather get one from a Max Raid for some reason, they can spawn in Raid Dens in Bridge Field, East Lake Axewell, Motostoke Riverbank, Rolling Fields, and Stony Wilderness.
How To Evolve Skwovet Into Greedent
Skwovet evolves into Greedent at level 24.
Greedent can also be found in the wild at Route 6, Route 7, Route 9, Axew’s Eye, Bridge Field, Giant’s Cap, Giant’s Mirror, Giant’s Seat, Hammerlocke Hills, Lake of Outrage, Motostoke Riverbank. Most of the time you’ll need to get it out of a berry tree.
Greedent Max Raid Battles can be found at Bridge Field, Motostoke Riverbank, and Stony Wilderness.
What Greedent Does In Battle
As you might imagaine, Greedent isn’t a late game powerhouse. It does have some solid defenses though, thanks to its high HP and Cheek Pouch Ability. Cheek Pouch lets it regain 1/3 of its HP on top of whatever the berry gives. This makes it pretty much mandatory to give Greedent an HP-restoring berry like Sitrus Berry. This can keep it in the fight longer than expected, allowing it to dish out more damage than the opponent counted on.
