Here’s where you can get a Throh in Pokémon Sword & Shield.
Throh. The judo Pokémon. What troubles me about this Pokémon is that there’s apparently an entire species that is born with the self-defense knowledge of judo. Also, that species is born with a white coat and a black belt.
Actually, if Throh is anything like Machoke, then that’s no coat. That’s SKIN. Yeesh.
In any case, Throh is a powerful Fighting-type Pokémon that can be a real menace in Sword & Shield. Here’s how you can catch one.
Where To Find Throh
Throh is not in Sword. Actually, he’s sort of in Sword. You can get a Throh by trading with a dude at what appears to be a crepe stand by giving him a Vanillish. Do that and you’ll get a Throh in Sword or a Sawk in Shield.
If you’ve got Shield, you can just catch a wild Throh as he’s practicing his moves (and yes, all Throh’s are male. Don’t ask how the biology of that works). You can find Throhs at Route 8, Bridge Field, Giant’s Mirror, Motostoke Outskirts, and Motostoke Riverbank. They’re quite rare, though, so expect to spend some time searching.
Throh can also appear in Max Raid Battles in Shield at Dusty Bowl and North Lake Miloch.
How To Evolve Throh
Throh doesn’t evolve. He just comes out of the egg as a fully-formed judo master. Is that weird? Sure, but it’s not the weirdest thing in Pokémon.
What Throh Can Do In Battle
Throh has a lot of HP, a lot of Attack, and a lot of Defense, but seriously bad Speed. Don’t expect to go first, ever. However, this can work to your advantage. Revenge doubles its power if you’ve taken damage from your opponent and can turn Throh into a wrecking ball. Reversal, Storm Throw, and Superpower are also all good STAB moves to choose from, so take your pick.
Other than that, Throh’s bulk makes him ideal for a Rest/Sleep Talk combo, and a plethora of coverage moves lets him take on all-comers.
