Durant is a Steel/Bug-type ant Pokémon created for Gen V. It has a rivalry with Heatmor, the anteater Pokémon, based on both being an ant and because Heatmor’s Fire typing can melt it. Strangely enough, we don’t ever see a Durant queen. If you want to catch one to fill your Sword & Shield Pokédex, you’ll need to get the average worker.

Where To Find Durant In Sword & Shield

First off, you should know that Durant spawns more frequently in Sword. It’s still there in Shield, but you’ll probably have to spend more time searching.

The best place to look is Giant’s Mirror during intense sun. After that, try the Lake of Outrage. If for some reason you don’t want to go to the Wild Area, check Route 6’s tall grass for a random encounter.

What Durant Does In Battle

Not only is Durant fast, but it gets access to the powerful Bug-type move First Impression. It has to be used as soon as Durant hits the field, but it’s almost guaranteed to always go first. Meanwhile, Durant gets access to other strong attacks like Stone Edge and Iron Head.

The downside to Durant is that it has pitiful HP and Special Defense. It also happens to be double weak to fire, a common type on competitive teams. A Focus Sash might save it from being one-shotted, but it will still fall in the face of Flamethrower.
