Hawlucha is one of the best Pokémon introduced in Gen VI, the X/Y games. It has a unique type combination and is a wonderful combination of design and execution. A luchador that’s actually part-bird makes for a colorful appearance, an awesome shiny, and a signature move that looks like jumping off the top rope. You’re going to want to catch one in Sword & Shield, and we’ll show you how.
Where To Find Hawlucha In Sword & Shield
Hawlucha can sometimes spawn in the tall grass on Route 6, but it’s a low chance. Trainers will have better luck in the Wild Area. In the Wild Area, Hawlucha will often be seen walking around Hammerlocke Hills. Players can find it to the right of the big dragon mouth gate to Hammerlocke, just around the corner.
What Hawlucha Does In Battle
Hawlucha is one of those rare Pokémon that don’t evolve or transform, yet still manage to be a top-tier fighter. Its impressive Speed lets it go first often, and its type combination gives it access to some hard-hitting attacks. However, its real power comes from its relationship with items.
Hawlucha has the Ability Unburden, which doubles its Speed if it loses its held item. This can be combined with Acrobatics, which doubles Attack power if the user has no item. Give Hawlucha a consumable item that it can use right away, then watch as it unburdens itself and gets twice as good at its job. For a Fighting-type move, consider Close Combat or Brick Break. Its signature move, Flying Press, can deal Fighting and Flying-type damage at the same time.
