Passimian is the famous rugby monkey Pokémon introduced in Sun & Moon. Oranguru is the other one, a sage orangutan. In those games it was a very rare spawn confined to one specific patch of grass in a jungle. It returns in Sword & Shield with the exact same behavior, only this time it spawns in a magical forest. To find out where to get Oranguru, read on.

Where To Find Oranguru In Sword & Shield

Oranguru is exclusive to Pokémon Shield. Sword players will need to trade for it. Passimian is the Sword-exclusive equivalent, and so will probably a good offering.

If you own Shield, go to the Glimwood Tangle. Search around the tall grass in the forest. You might have to look awhile as Oranguru has a low spawn rate, but you’ll eventually get one from a random encounter.

What Oranguru Does In Battle

Oranguru’s highest stat is its Special Defense. As such, it serves better as a wall or to set up defenses like Reflect or Light Screen. For attacks, it can learn the Psychic-type standards like Psychic or Shadow Ball. It’s not the most unique or flashy Pokémon, but it can do its job as a bulky Psychic-type.
